Had no idea stainless rusted , I thought if you get high quality 304 grade stainless it didn't rust . getcoat

Beware, 304 is cooking grade stuff used for wall ties & the like in construction - go for 316 if you can get it

Jon is absolutely right , here in construction within .7 of a kilometre of the sea you must only use 316, and in marine it is normal for all fastenings, though many components are now using duplex 2205 .

Or 316L but of course it is more brittle than 304. If you have the cash how about Titanium stabilised palladium. I once sold an oyster farm a plate heat exchange pasteuriser for sea water in TiPd.
