In all the hubbub over the new CX Plus 4 has anyone noticed that the Roadster has now disappeared from the Morgan website. It's all CX cars now and Trads are officially extinct.
I know we have the Plus 4 trad LE on the way but I believe they are all sold or accounted for.
The new Plus 4 looks great but it's a rather sad day.
But...onwards and upwards. I think the CX Plus 4 will be a great success for Morgan and at least we have our Trads safely tucked away in the garage (or mine will be when it arrives in a few weeks).
But take my advice - hang on to your Trads and never let them go!

Interesting... I am sure that I read in 'MOG' magazine that you can still order a 'Trad' chassis up until the end of 2020...
I totally agree with your advice :>))

Interesting point ! Not much about the disapearence of the 3.7 on here or did I miss a thread ? New Morgans will no doubt start at £60k when we hear about the 4/4 which is a lot so I think the trads will be sort after !

It will be harder for first timers to get into a new Morgan at a starting point around £60k. I remember when the 4/4 wasn't much over £30k.
If people take up the three year pcp option, then in the summer of 2023, there will be a glut of cars on the market. If they get used as daily drivers, the residuals will be interesting.
So I reckon that the demand for well specced trads will hold up. Very few just now go over £40k, but that £20k gap to a new basic is a big deal.
Hard to see how the Aero Plus 8 will fit into the new reality. The noise and rarity maybe, but the Plus Six is a bargain compared to the asking price of the run out Plus8 Aero.
And the Aeros? Impossible to predict I reckon.

I totally agree with your advice :>)) You'll struggle with a Roadster, I think all the 3.7 engines have been used up, KH bought a run of the last few & I think Quicksilver has one of the very last customer spec ones ?

In Steve's speech as the "launch" he said, almost as an aside, that the Plus Four replaced the Plus 4 and the Roadster

In my view the Run Out Plus 8 was priced to make the new Plus Six look like a good deal and to generate some extra cash! Even so the Aero based Plus 8 is a rare car, Tarks, at almost 6 years old and 42,000 miles is valued at £70,000 by the insurers, that is the cost to replace. I think this is realistic, but in reality Tarka is unique and can't be exactly replaced by another Plus 8. Should it be written off I'd buy a Plus 4 with the settlement....

Yes, although not heavily publicised the final batch of Roadsters were announced to dealers late last year to be built early this year. I think Krazy Horse tried to reserve twelve. All the Roadsters they did manage to reserve are now in build bar one already sold. I'm sure I heard the factory suggesting the trad Plus 4 run would halt early this year as well though and certainly before the end, which makes sense given the new plus four launch with many already built.

I hope the MCC enjoys great success with the new models. I do wonder at the customer base..? It was a combination of factors that led me towards Morgan ownership, the most relevant issue for me at the time were the vintage aspects of the design and build. Included in my appreciation of my Morgan was the degree of old coachwork skills put into constructing it`s wooden frame and alloy panels, I soaked up the whole heritage of the marque combined with the expected driver involvement while enjoying a run in the countryside hereabouts in all sorts of weathers with a largeish engine thundering away, and with enough power for the throttle pedal to demand to be treated with a degree of respect. My old +8 ticked all those boxes back when I was younger and a tad more robust at the time. Time does not stand still and in the following years I think the old Mog has faired better than I to the extent that a bit of extra compliance in the suspension increased heater output, even heated seats and a tad more luxurious surroundings in the cabin may well seem more fitting with the ideals of the now older me, thus perhaps that is the likely customer base for the new cars, though I doubt that the +6 might seem ideal in the hands of old dudes with like it or not slowing reflexes and degrading eyesight etc. etc. etc. and perhaps less so compared to similar modern and powerful cars with all the bells and whistles to compensate for any laps in driver skills.. hmm..? As for the possibility of opening new markets, well it seems there may well be a market for what are recently identified as resto-mod cars which can be expensive, even VERY expensive, so what better than a factory constructed resto-mod as opposed to one created by enthusiasts...? Though having typed that some resto-mods can be of jewel like quality with quality engineering to match, as in the Singer Porsche, though there are some slightly cheaper yet still high quality options available too. I suspect that other marques may have their resto-mod exponents too, but Porsche has long been a favourite of mine.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VDo-SDLj6oAll of which seems to suggest that the resto-mod ideals may well fit with a wider customer base than the true Trad given it seems for a variety of reasons there will be those who still feel drawn to "original" ideals and marketing of such, but really desire or need to have originality up-dated a bit more to suit a degree of modern day expectations or requirements, call it a logical progression perhaps..? I still do not imagine there will be too many folk in their late twenties to forties beating a path to Morgans door given I suspect their life choices may be a whole lot different from that of those who`s kids have flown the nest and hopefully feeling a tad flush, for a while at least.. fingers crossed.. Just thinking in type..as ever

I am afraid, the starting point will be around 70 k... In Germany it's 80 k€, which is more than my roadster.
