The G56 spring set is a great help but it can be pretty difficult to get the wire ring retainer off the Dzus and back on again with the spring.

7mm E-Clips work perfectly as a replacement and are simple to fit with a normal pair of pliers.

Do you have any pictures of these?

At the moment i'm torn between which to go for visually, its a Green Shark M3W and they are usually early cars only so I have never seen one with the later catches. On their own I like the catches but worried it might not sure the car or ruin the cleanish look (amongst all the graphics!).

If there are alternatives to make the original fasteners better that could be quite a nice solution.

I have the original Dzus fasteners & rather than the G56 springs use a clothes peg to hold them out for refitting usually locating right rear first. The fasteners & pegs dont chaff the paint.

This thread has inspired me to fit some locating pins.

The holes are already in the body and bonnet
[Linked Image]

Put the bonnet on and got it where I wanted and used a bent sharpened nail to Mark some masking tape to check for hole alignment.
A bit of fettling was required to get them lined up.
[Linked Image]

Used the tips from some old braising nozzles I had lying around. Drilled the hole larger and used a wood screw to fix them into the ash frame which is under the hole in the body.

Keeps the bonnet in place now, all I need is some new helicopter tape👍🏼

Here's my solution to the annoying Dzus fasteners.

Remove the bonnet fasteners and, on two of them, remove everything except the black plastic washer.
[Linked Image]

on the two Dzus closest to the cockpit, attached a cable.
[Linked Image]

Save the other two for a 3W friend that will likely lose one.

Where the front Dzus used to be, install spring latches in line with the hole the Dzus used to go through.
[Linked Image]

Note the washer and screw where the Dzus hole used to be
[Linked Image]

Here's what is on the other side of the washer and screw.
[Linked Image]

This pin will engage in the slot you create by modifying the Dzus receptacle.
[Linked Image]

You cut away the sides at an angle and leave the half of hole at the bottom. The projecting pin will engage in the slot when you lower the bonnet into position.

Here is another view of the pin.
[Linked Image]

You are on your own making the pin. I had a large stainless steel bolts, and a lathe. There are no engineering drawings, the design evolved as I went along. The machined diameter is the same as the diameter of the plastic hole that you modified, you want a snug fit when the pin engages the modified slot.

It is now very easy to remove and install the bonnet. Note the hardware store drawer pull I installed on the hood, making it even easier to remove and install the bonnet.

Once the pins engage the slots and the Dzus and spring latches are engage, the bonnet is mounted rock solid.

I can see that pinning the bonnet to keep it from shifting is needed and the examples shown give me hope! Thanks for the good explanations.
