I thought all the above would put you off traditional catches🤣 I agree. From my experience the vintage catches are superb. 1000 miles, no issues.

I've the vintage and now 4000miles, superb, efficient and esay to operate. Only drawback, as I've read in a previous post, the bonnet move around 1cm toward the front after a few miles, but then quiet and safe.

I wouldn't say mine moves anything like that, maybe a couple of mm. Do you have the heavy duty woven tape on the underside of the hood, both sides and over the length at the rear?

yes mine hardly moves at all as well Mine moves a small amount but the bonnet does not rub on any part of the cowl. However it does cause the rubber feet to want to shift and if not tended to on ever removal of the bonnet they will go adrift. A good high temp glue might stop that issue, but a couple of pins might help.

I thought all the above would put you off traditional catches🤣 It has been useful information, both have drawbacks it seems. I have decided to keep the original Dzus fasteners (hence ordering the Garage56 springs) as I think they suit the car better for my spec (full RAF Shark Green). The vintage ones get in the way of the decals if placed in the correct place and might look odd elsewhere, so will see how I get on - I can always change my mind later but a bit hard to undo drilling holes! On the existing Dzus front I am looking at some options to reduce the risk of scratching the paint when refitting, maybe some vinyl or film similar to what the newer 3W's have from the factory.

I use some 3M body protection tape on the bodywork above the boot Dzus fasteners to stop them scratching the paint. You will see where it needs to go and you have to replace it occasionally as the tape gets torn by the Dzus after a time. You may have to bend the retaining spring out, when the boot liner is out, to keep some tension on the fasteners or they can work loose. I don't think the Dzus fasteners are too much trouble for the bonnet, particularly with the G56 springs installed.......but I am an ex-aircraft engineer who had to wrestle engine cowlings back into place once upon a time.

Does the boot suffer from the same issue? The set from Garage56 was for four springs - so I might have to order more if that was the case!
