Sorry I meant as in the fasteners being tricky and scratching the paint or coming into contact with it..

The boot fasteners don't require the springs but they do tend to scratch the paintwork when you close the boot lid as the leather straps flap and allow the ends of the Dzus fasteners to contact the paint.

Duly noted, perhaps some more paint protection film is needed!

I wouldn't say mine moves anything like that, maybe a couple of mm. Do you have the heavy duty woven tape on the underside of the hood, both sides and over the length at the rear?

I have the heavy duty woven tape yes. Maybe one cm was « optimistic », will look closer next time I’m out for a tour, maybe next weekend.

Thanks for that - I will take a look and compare and see what I can come up with!

It isn't the inner boot part that gets scratched by the Dzus fasteners sharp end, as you say, that area is well protected. I found that the bodywork above the fastener, arrowed in the photo is what gets scratched as the boot lid is closed. You can just see the 3M tape to protect the paint, although it needs replacing occasionally as it gets torn eventually. The leather straps get more floppy as the years go by, they may be stiff enough to keep the fasteners off the paint at first.
