I‘m still too young for cruise ships.
I would drop the average age rate too much.

Now I am 69 and have never come across a club I've ever wanted to join so far and I think this is much the same sort of thing, you either like people enmasse or you don't, leaving the pollution element aside for a moment.

Having said that I have thoroughly enjoyed any TM event I have attended but most on here are a very amenable enthusiastic bunch that plough their own furrow and that's what makes these events a delight.
So I suppose I have joined a virtual club grin2

p.s. I have to come clean here and say I do make exceptions to the enmasse thing when FOS and Revival are on at Goodwood laugh2 woohoo thumbs

Too easy to criticise, and I would not choose a cruise ship just now except that I did a Nile cruise, which was brilliant. But I have friends who have loved cruising, so I wouldn’t rush to make harsh comments. But I have been in Venice when a cruise ship comes in; I can see them getting banned from certain places.
I like solitude, but herself loves disco dancing, so it’s going to happen sometime, might as well make the best of it

I was encouraged to go on a 12 day cruise once.
Not sure that I would go again, for two reasons:

1. Just a bit too organised for my liking.
2. Despite being OK on my numerous Brittany Ferry crossings, I spent two days feeling really seasick on that cruise ship! sick2

But, each to their own.

Despite the fact that I have crossed the world by ship 3 times (all be it as a child) and when I had a yacht on Sydney Harbour sailed out to sea as often as I could my idea of hell would be being stuck on a cruise ship. I am not keen on holiday resorts either and tend to made my own arrangements on the one occasion I used one in Fiji.

Cruise ships are hugely controversial at Venice and cause untold damage to the relatively closed waters of the Lagoon. Many feel they should be banned from the Lagoon and they also add to the already overcrowded levels of tourism at Venice.

There have also been several accidents with cruise ships that have lost control when manoeuvring in the Lagoon.

Its a few years ago since my best mate died of Cancer . mates since little boys . He was in hospital and Asked me to get him home. After a bit of a blunt attitude I got him home I was not going to back off . He said if he made it he wanted to see the Fjords , would I go . I said " yes we would ". As he got worse and time was reaching its end for him he looked over to me and said , do me a favor go and see them I want to see them through your eyes ." I said OK " We did that for him . The through your eyes felt strange as he was near death and knew it was coming . I hope he saw what we did and more who knows .

There is going to be a lot of cruise ships laid up in the coming months. They are virtually a floating Petri dish.

An old friend of mine goes on at least two cruises every year.
Every time she comes back sick, but she still does it.

Maybe the corona virus will make her think twice about it as she's not in the best of health.

Cheers,
Dave.
