IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS
1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold
2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose.
3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the Sun.
4. If someone sneezes it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap.
6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it.
7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice.
8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on.
9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice.
10. Can't emphasis enough - drink plenty of water!
THE SYMPTOMS
1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days
2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further.
3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing.
4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention.
Much of this was quoted by @Kin several pages back. Then subsequently debunked: https://fullfact.org/online/coronavirus-claims-symptoms-viral/The drowning part sounds pretty scary .

The virus could have been contained by a complete stop on all people movement for a month after the initial outbreak of a few cases.
That would never happen, so the genie is out of the bottle.
There must be thousands infected & undetected across the world, and this will go on until some resistance is created in the masses, and a vaccine is found.
There will be casualties beyond victims of the virus. People are going to lose their jobs and more. Sport is a huge victim, as are concerts, airlines and cruise ship operators.
This isn't going away anytime soon, and I suspect it will be back in the autumn, even if summer brings a respite.
Really it's a big wake up call in all industries which generate huge profits from mass attendance. Lets see what the impact will be on climate change.

I have just received an email from a company in China that I have purchased a couple of things from. I have to say that the information and advice seems to be the same as by WHO. https://archive2.rspread.net/43300-...eb.aspx?ens=zuMZwV83RCL290wLAJXC1w%3d%3d

We have today returned from 2 weeks in Cuba, which incidentally, got its first infection last Monday from a visiting Italian. That does not seem to have been picked up on UK media. Our transit through Gatwick this morning was the quickest ever! Automatic electronic passport scanning, absolutely no visual inspection or temperature monitoring; in fact no officials took any interest in any of the 250 passengers who disembarked. IMO, a national disgrace. What are they up to? Maybe hoping to ease the broken NHS long term, by clearing out geriatrics and the chronically ill in one swoop by blaming it all on the world crisis. I despair!!

YES PLEASE.! OK no water tight answers to this issue but surely it’s all about minimising risk. I really do not wish to inadvertently infect anyone and am willing to put up with any inconvenience to protect my family and others. As it is, we have cancelled our forthcoming Morgan gatherings for the rest of this month and are staying put for a couple of weeks at home. Maybe OTT but the least we can do!

So you are coming in from a country of 12 million with one infection reported last Monday to a country with several thousand infections
I bet you wish you could have stayed in Cuba
