So what does the collective think about our planned Highland tour on May 16th.

Eight days, staying at Aboyne, Skye, Ullapool, and Fort Augustus.

Two of the four venues will include local pub meals, two eating in the hotels.

Should we go? Cancel now? Wait and see?...……………….

At this time I suspect wait and see would be my choice.. We have accommodation arranged relative to a JockMog Morgan "weekend" event in Banff in May... got no idea whether that will go ahead or not, though if it does you might consider dropping in when passing..(-:

I am off to Dornoch, Brora etc at the end of April. There will be around 30 of us in various hotels and at lunches and dinners. I see no reason why we should not go ahead and the local economy needs trade like ours. I would go ahead with your jaunt and enjoy it.

Dave, wait & see I would say. We are doing the same with our trips.

Go for it Dave, we're swopping our Euro tours for UK trips now, probably the scenic roads of Wales

At least if the world goes tits up mid holiday, you can just turn round & drive home, rather than the risk of being turned away at a countries border, or you turn up at your hotel 1200 miles from home & it's shut

Let's take it as an opportunity to pump some money into the home tourism economy

I’d give it a while before making a firm decision, as things are changing daily.

We’ve got an 8 day road trip in the Morgan booked around Devon and Cornwall from May 18th so we’re hoping we won’t have all been told to self-isolate by then. But who knows what might happen in the places we’re booked into, so we’ll see what the position is a couple of weeks before we go and ring the hotels to see if things are OK with them.

I can understand the Government advising oldies and the more vulnerable to stay indoors away from it all, but life must surely go on for the rest of us as the local economy, and the Country in general needs us to keep financially active.

Hopefully by the time we do our Scotland road trip in September it will all have settled down a bit…

Poor midge-related knowledge there lads! ......midgies are out and about (and nipping nicely) from April to September (and maybe either side of that with the mild winter) ..... Cleggs are different beasties .... 'horse-flies' down south ....you feel the nip when they bite you ..... know your enemy!!
