I do hope they now have a plan under their new Italian masters....I suspect they wouldn’t have if they were still family owned....they’d just muddle through and hope for the best. Richard mentioned MMC surviving the wars...in WW2 they stopped vehicle manufacture and worked for the government...perhaps they they could manufacture respirators for the NHS! Hand beaten and bespoke.

My original post was really prompted by a friend who runs his own business and would normally change his sport car every two or three years. He’s concerned about dipping into investments that have already taken a nose dive and more importantly just what is going to happen to his business in the forthcoming months. He may not be in the market for a Morgan, preferring the likes of Porsche but there’s no doubt other potential purchasers will be in the same boat.

If you find the remote access works well that's good as most people have insufficient performance on their firewall/VPN system. It is normally spec'd for lots of outbound and a few remote connections so when everyone is outside pointing in it gets a hammering and goes slow.

As a suggestion we have chosen one person from each team to be the standby in case of the zombie apocalypse. If there is a case inside the office then that person is sent straight home to minimise risk. If we then have to run on a skeleton staff then everyone is sent home. The office is cleaned and then the standin gets to feel a bit lonely for a while.

I've been WFH since 2002...so I've followed the improvements in broadband from a slow ADSL to the latest BT offering, which provides a reliable and more than adequate speed.
We have fibre to the cabinet.
The Cabinet is less than 0.5km from the exchange and we are 165m from the cabinet.

Not bad at all. We are a little further from the cabinet but speed is throttled too.

We are a bit spoilt...
Pure luck, when we purchased the house in 99 we had no idea how broadband would become another "essential utility"
But for those who live out in the country they are lucky to get 8mbps in places.

BTW, for a significant payment BT would give me fibre to the house, 1gb guaranteed. But in all honesty, why would I need it?

I am about to move house and BT say 'Congratulations! You can receive download speeds of up to 1Mbps'. There is zero broadband.

However, I have bought a 4G router and can have unlimited high speed downloads - no more BT. Yipeee!

Too much speed is never enough?

In so, so many ways!

BTW, it is no longer "self isolation, but as my 70 year old pal described it, as "House Arrest"!!
