Hi all, I've been quiet here but interested in your debates (and worried by this all although Portugal so far is not as affected as others, notably our neighbours from Spain). We had the fortune of advance warning and we took self-isolation measures pretty soon I do hope it helps spread the virus contamination for a longer period of time, allowing our health services to cope. So far it is working. Also, as you know, we only have land borders with Spain but both our governments (sensibly) agreed to close them to all but goods and otherwise essential travel. Self-isolation at country level, all in good cooperation with both countries police forces joining efforts. But Peter (Gambalunga) really is reporting from the front and I want to say to him that our thoughts and prayers have been also about him and Alis and their larger family at Mandello. According to news today Italy is slowly reversing the tide of this "war" and I can only say how glad I am. It's just a ray of sunshine piercing through the smoke but it is important because it makes you believe, whatever county you are in, that you can and will overcome this. Stay strong you all, do some work on your Morgans (there's always something that needs to be done) and avoid all non necessary human contact. Kind regards from the Atlantic Southwest!

John, you take good care. Our European/UK friends are copping it at the moment but it will be our turn soon and it is not looking great.
The Morgan Owners Club of Australia has cancelled all events and meetings and I have done the same with our local Car Club.
Stay safe old son....... So being the over thinker and planner that I am. I decided to get in a few supplies to last me a week and save me out going out again and exposing myself to risk. Not much, and not hoarding. 8 Bars of chocolate, 6 bottles of wine, 2 frozen meals, 3 packets of biscuits, one packet of Ritz and a tin of Polish smoked trout that took my eye. About one weeks worth of essentials. So with all that and enough materials to keep me busy building the fence we are making. Yesterday night I thought great for the next week I will now stay at home and do my bit to stop the spread of Covid19.
How did that go I hear you ask?
Well thanks to some grub with poor hygiene, and obviously me touching my face at some stage in the supermarket inadvertently before using one of the 3 sources of alcohol hand cleaner back at my car.
I woke up at 6 with the worst gastro I have ever had (and I have had a few) so to spare the details. I succeeded beyond my wildest dreams at staying away from people, I not only stayed way from strangers but also Paula and spent nearly all day in bed.
Job done Really sorry to hear this news. Just goes to show how easy it can be to pick up an infection. Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery. Thanks guys, it does show how easy you can pick up a virus even when being very alert and using hand wash all the time. All the best to the both of you too, and all the other TM’rs - here’s hoping we are all still here in 6 months 👍🏻

My son teaches at a school in Sloane Square. They have closed and are using video conferencing & distance learning. OK it is an expensive private school but it shows it can be done.
His partner is teaching in a primary & they plod on.

That is really good to hear. We are all geared up - we have an online learning platform and we've uploaded tons of worksheets, videos, text books, revision guides etc. We have a small handful of kids with no internet (Romany/Travellers for example). We have provided them with hardcopies, and text books.
All staff have VPN access and a laptop, so we can run lessons from home, respond to work, emails, mark assessments etc.
We're ready to stop the spread. Just need the Government to make the decision.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

HB well said, I totally agree if there were experts on here they would at least be on the world platform and I don't see any there, they are mere opinions without a vestige of responsibility.
Now look here Richard...l..I’ll have you know that I am an expert in these matters and know what I’m talking about. I studied single cell organisms at University for a year...along with the bottoms of many glasses in 1969. So there!

Yes but most importantly you refined your TIC sense of humour there whilst studying like most of us, it seems that a few on here skipped that module and take themselves seriously  Stay safe up there John.

For those who really need to self isolate because of underlying health conditions, getting food is going to become a real issue. Supermarket delivery slots are gone - so are 'click and collect' slots. The Sainsbury's site for my area gives slots up to the middle of April - and there are none to be had. To compound the issue, they are now rationing supplies - if you order 4 tins of soup, that's halved to 2 and this means surviving for a month on 2 tins of things... not possible.
The food distribution chain is fairly robust - with cafes, hotels and restaurants closing down there should be food surplus. But right now, you can't buy anything - at least not in my area.
The next crisis? I hope not.
