Time line: Coronavirus cover up

I was led to believe that Chinese doctor whom tried to share information about the new virus through social media was silenced by the authority.

But looking at the timeline, he shared out the info on Dec 30th, and China tell WHO about the new virus on Dec 31st

Why was it a cover up? Am I missing something here?

Also, a study published in March indicated that if Chinese authorities had acted three weeks earlier than they did, the number of coronavirus cases could have been reduced by 95% and its geographic spread limited.

Three weeks? Does the report mean from the very first patient who was admitted into the hospital on Dec 10th, when the doctor has no idea what it was?

There's certainly a lot of anti-Chinese fake news / propaganda flying about at the moment. I saw something from the far-right Gatehouse Institute the other day that was obviously trying to spread mistrust and hatred.

I'm absolutely no fan at all of China, especially their cultural practices relating to the treatment of animals and the environment, but I don't think they are guilty of covering up or propagating this virus.

Unfortunately it is part of human nature to try to blame someone for a misfortune. Fortunately we no longer sacrifice virgin's to appease the gods but unfortunately so called social media makes it very easy to spread false news and conspiracy theories. Equally unfortunately many people pass on misinformation, all be it with the best intentions, without checking validity of the source.

I visited China over 10years ago, it wasn't as bad as people made out in terms of hygiene, obviously, I can't say about other markets.

I do hope after this pandemic blows over, I am sure the Chinese government would implement even more stringent measures on illegal trade!!

Despite what other people think of Chinese, I have no statistics, but I dare say 99% of Chinese do not eat cat, dogs and bats etc etc, and a lot of these people who do eat are usually older generation.

As for the environment, China actually building more renewables everyday than the rest of the world put together.

The biggest polluter is USA and that crook Trump thinks climate summit was a waste of time!

I am not a fan of China either. I have seen how they are colonising the world led by greedy countries wanting to take their RMB/USD to build infrastructure. Cambodia, Namibia, Sri Lanka.......... which ultimately ends up in Chinese hands as they cannot pay off the debt. It's the Wet Markets and the abhorrent practice of stacking cages of animals for slaughter one upon another. Animals from across the globe that historically have never been in contact with one another. I have seen these markets with my own eyes. And not just China, but Borneo and Myanmar as well. They are responsible for causing the pandemic. These markets and their eating habits need to change. It needs global government action. There is an excellent Australian documentary on the subject if you have the stomach.

I can't say I have seen those exotic cages in HK and China, usually cages with frogs, chickens, and ducks

I started doing business in China over 25 years ago, was stationed in Hong Kong back in the 70s and have done business there since the early 90s. It all depends where you go and how far off the beaten path you want to stray, but the treatment of animals is awful especially the way they are bred, caught, kept and slaughtered. Don't get me started on hygiene which visitors never see the true nature of.

Probably? confused2

I can't see the west are any better, can't help but think we are also conditioned to think we in the western world are the good guys, fair and democratic.

I am disillusioned that Trump could simply walk away from impeachment with overwhelming evidence that he was abusing his power!

And Anne Sacoola walk away under diplomatic immunity!! Seriously? If it was some other smaller less influential country, I think Britain would play hell and threaten war!!
