Lockdown for all of us then. Just have to sit in our cars and make Brrm Brrm noises.
wish now I had taken some dashcam footage, then I could have put a monitor on the bonnet for extra effect.

Lets hope and pray that is the case, that was reflected on our news this evening as well that maybe you had turned the corner.

The thing I find a little puzzling is the low incidence of death rate in Germany which was reputed to be the source for your country, the only logic I can apply is that having worked in that country for three years is that they tend to be very disciplined and maybe that is the key that most of the population did isolate themselves, if so that is the lesson for all other countries to follow.

I shall say zis only vonce - Good Luck to all of you TM'ers wherever you are on the planet grouphug

Richard, It is still very early to be able to say anything specific. Not all Germans were disciplined. Especially not the young. We'll have to wait at least three weeks to see how things develop here. As for Italy, the doctors are real heroes. But the NYT article I posted the day before yesterday shows that even in Italy before the explicit outbreak, not everything was perfect.

We still do not know exactly what this single German had a negative effect in Italy, certainly he had a share. But there have been many trips to China considering that there are several 100.000 Chinese living in the area in northern Italy. This is in no way racist. The people with Corona are all unfortunate victims. And tomorrow I might be too. But you have to consider all probabilities.

Heinz that was a very interesting article from the front line by the Italian medics and a complete turnaround from normal disease control.

I hadn't realised the youngsters were still carrying on as normal in Germany, it is easy to judge when you are older like us but maybe we would have acted in a similar manner given the circumstances after all you are invincible when you are young is my recollection of those times.

That number of Chinese living in Italy certainly would give rise to a strong suspicion that some of them must have visited their country of birth with the strong possibility of bringing it over with them, that said I recalled Peter saying that pathologically they had proven it to have entered from a German visitor, I could be wrong as things are moving rapidly on this front.

Richard, I have three kids between 19 and 27. I understand how they live and think. It wasn't some old Morgan driver's general indictment of youth. My description was also related to the time until 10 days ago.

As far as Italy is concerned, I am not interested in attributing some kind of "guilt" to one or the other. As I said, now we all have to look forward together and treat everyone as best we can.
Soon we will enter a phase where the country-specific differences in the quantity of the spread will level out. This should hopefully lead to even more global solidarity.

Heinz, I wasn't suggesting you were blaming youth per se it's just that I remember all too well those headstrong days of youth which maybe were not the same for everyone of course.

I wasn't attempting to apportion blame but I have an interest in tracing these diseases as I was very involved in the Foot and Mouth epidemic in the UK and fully understand the need of forward and backward tracing. So I shall be very interested in the final analysis of these outbreaks in the wash up meetings which thank God will not be too far away and at least in terms of months and not years.

The pooling of the knowledge during these times is vital but there is still far too much nationalism around for my liking which will of course prevent this conduit.

I think this originates from the Civet Spleen Appreciation Society in Wuhan, or the Bat Menu Club.

The thing that has struck me so far is that the public, by and large, are morons. This really helps the spread given one person can infect up to 400 others.

Yes we shouldn't be surprised at the level of idiocy but it is relentless in it's progress it seems, we just have to hope we make it out the other side in one piece.

I know you are conversant with our area and you won't be surprised to hear that Bigbury beach had it's busiest day for 9 months it was reported to be like a summer Bank Holiday with the second home owners seeking refuge. It takes idiocy and sharing to a whole new level banghead.
