I picked up my Plus 4 from RPM yesterday. Absolutely delighted with it, especially since I'd never actually driven one before. The weather has been horrendous for around a month but - would you believe it - once I got onto the twisty Highland roads it dried up and I couldn't smile wide enough!

I will post a few photos once I'm back from holiday. I could have posted them yesterday but given the nature of some of my previous posts (How To Wash Your Car) I thought I better give it the works before doing so.

Russell at RPM hinted that I might want to get the mirrors replaced with a more effective and aesthetically pleasing alternative. I have to say I couldn't see anything really useful in the wing mirrors.

Has anyone replaced their wing mirrors before? I think I'll probably take the advice and get them replaced, there is a bit of a blind spot with the hood up!

You need the round ones off the Sport! Congratulations, I can't think of a nicer place to drive it than around the Highlands!

Thanks cheers Isn't it ironic that the day after I pick up my Morgan I depart for a week to a small island with a 30mph limit across the board? Talk about chomping at the bit....

Maybe those are the ones he was on about. Can you angle them so that they serve some purpose?

Another congratulations on your new Morgan; I hope you have many happy miles behind the wheel.

Something tells me this is going to be one of the cleanest cars on the site. grin2

I replaced my mirrors within a few days as I just couldn't get on with the factory version. Especially on the nearside. I went for the round stainless steel ones from Librands, primarily because they work, but they also look better.

I have also seen a round version supplied by BHM which have "angled" stalks which seemed to have even greater articulation.

You will read on this site that some members had difficulty fitting replacement due to some aftermarket brands having a 10mm stalk where the factory fit 9.5mm. Some even having to cut the seals to fit!

Don't panic...........

1. Make yourself a brew
2. Pour an extra cup of hot water and put all washers and seals into the cup
3. Enjoy your tea
4. Easily fit your new mirrors with the softened seals

Have fun safely,

Tony

I find the standard Sport round mirror on the drivers side fine but the nearside one needs to be convex to give a better field of view. Certainly a lot better than the ones on the Plus 4.

I will change them to the Librands ones sometime though as the finish on the standard ones is pretty poor and already corroding.

A shame...the corrosion on the mirrors, and screen fittings together with the rattle under the dash has already put off one of my friends from buying a Morgan frown
