In Felixstowe the police were questioning some cars parking in town near a supermarket. Whilst not illegal shopping in a Morgan it could be seen in a negative way by some.

The ONLY time you can drive your Morgan is to the shops and that may have to be proved to be essential and for some that might be pushing the boundaries?

My mate was stopped on his motor bike last evening, they did not agree with him that his small rucksack was large enough for an essential shopping trip.

However, in the spirit of this really nasty virus, I think we should keeping our Morgan's locked away and use our modern car.

Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Come on guys.
A drive is for essential purposes only.
Going out for a social drive is unacceptable no matter how you put a spin on it (excuse the pun).
If you must then go shopping but be prepared for some backlash.
There are too many “ the rules don’t apply to me “ idiots as it is.

The fact is that you would not add to the risk to yourself or anyone else by going for a circuitous drive and returning to home. The problem is that Morgan’s in particular are distinctive and perceived as a fun car so the perception would be very negative. Best to stay at home and not gain a poor reputation for owners of interesting or classic cars.

Why is a circuitous route NECESSARY?
To me that is putting spin on the subject as justification for a joy ride.

Thanks Neil, it was finished nearly a year ago but stayed at the factory for a while as MMC wanted to use it, but in the end didn’t.

Did I read somewhere that you are moving house, is that now on hold because of the virus or have you done it? Looking forward to the usual meet up when we are free to do it Neil...

Problem with the no driving thing is we are allowed to get some exercise, so yesterday I drove a couple of miles to walk the dog somewhere quiet with other walkers hundreds of meters away.

Not allowed to do that, so just been for a jog in the busy park next door passing dozens of people on the same path.

Why? In what way will I increase anyone's risk if I get into my car at home, drive 30 miles through the lanes and end up back at home?

It's a simple concept.

Is your journey essential? Going on a circular tour may not impact anyone, but it's certainly not essential.

Like driving somewhere to walk.

Selfish interpretations will only lead to tighter restrictions, for longer. But I think we'll see a lot of idiocy as this develops.
