It is not 'cheap' but a lot cheaper than your quoted GBP 6k, and hopefully the 'Duratec' installation will be in the same price range as the 'Zetec' when finally signed - off. Hopefully, it will also be in line with the 'Premium' charged for a 2.0 +4.

Totally agree Robert cheers

I have just spoken direct to Chas (a good friend of mine - so I cannot claim pure unbias) who tells me the facts of the case are some 9 actual low pressure turbo installations to date over some 18 months. All have been on road cars as the LPT conversion is about torque not power.
See http://www.mogsport.co.uk/zetec.htm fro more details and the price. read

Not sure why its unfair - I have never met him and got all I know from Pistonheads see http://www.pistonheads.com/features/reliant/ confused2

Better still I could invite him to join Talk Morgan flag

Come on Lorne that's less than a Plus 8 let alone an Aero. scared

Yes there are lots of non turbo alternatives but most of the are high rev low torque more suited to racing. I know as I had the first Morgan Zetec to have a throttle body conversion. 155 BHP but needed to be revved to get the most out of it.

Burton Power https://www.burtonpower.com have lots of useful tuning guides for all Ford engines (look under Technical)

What power and torque does the Fereday conversion produce? sherlock

Does anyone know what the change to the insurance would be please for any of these modifications? I was pleasantly surprised to be quoted under £300 for a 2 litre with business use for a brand new car that will not be garaged. Got the distinct impression that it was because the car is classed as a classic – will adding any kind of performance kit give brokers an attack of the ‘screaming ab dabs’, or ‘twinging screws’?

Had two Reliants - but both 'Del Trotter' type super vans. One of the great joys (not many of those) was being able to wave at Simitar drivers and point to the car, as in 'you and me, both Reliant owners' then just watch their expressions....!

My experience was through using Philip Bell of Morgan Insurance. the key things were power increase and overall value. If your mods for instance were giving a 4/4 the power of a Plus 8 then you could expect to pay Plus 8 rates. Bear in mind that for unlimted miles on an Aero I am only paying about £500. My old semi race Plus 8 (about 265 BHP) was still only about £400.

They are of course three wheelers and therefore to many Mog owners 'The True Faith' notworthy

True; if only they had put two wheels at the front, and one at the back...

Combining the last two threads, I once asked for an insurance quote for a Bond Bug back in the 70's - "£500 sir" "Yes, that's right, that's the value, how did you know?" "No sir, that is the premium......."

Thanks for info on insurance; suspect that I'll be happy with the car as standard, but always nice to know what the options & implications are.

Robert, that's a really interesting way of improving the performance of the 4/4 and I am sure that we will all be interested to hear the results.

When are you going to get it done and when do we get the results of your first test-drive. Will it be in-situ when we meet on the 14th? woohoo

Aeroman thumbs

Paul, did you actually get to drive a 'Bug' ? I have forgetten what mine cost to insure 'Third Party Only', but believe me the Broker was doing you a favour - They were 'lethal' and had a tendancy to 'flip -over'; being 'Fiber Glass' that was the car written - off, not to mention the driver. Cann't remember how long I had the car for, certainly not long, and for most of the time it was 'Parked - Up' waiting for a buyer! To scared to use it after a 'near thing'!

No Brian, conversion won't be fitted until after the engine etc., warranty expires. I also need to get the car transfered over to French plates first. Even with a 'Conformity Certificate' new Morgans without Air Bags have to be inspected by the Department of Mines before they can be 'transfered over'
- did someone mention Coal Carts!
