What a nightmare diagram you have to work from. I get mine from the gomog.com site.

Ive noticed there are two brake pedal switches on mine too but don't know why either. Can anyone else tell us?
Are the brake lights still working with only one switch working? Its unlikely but could one switch be for the high level brake light? Easy to check for both I suppose.
If you replace the faulty switch I would take a photo of its placement before removing. I assume that both are adjusted the same amount.
Finally I would have thought that the brake light switch is a separate problem than the loss of power unless someone can explain otherwise!
Rob, the second switch is the stop fueling signal to the ECU when you brake. This is very interesting and a novelty for me. I'll check it out on occasion. Only... my car is running fine again. I didn't think that the second switch would cut off the fuel supply when you brake. That could explain the interruptions if this switch is not working properly I always thought that the fuel cut out the moment you stop accelerating so that it's a function of the accelerator pedal. Also because you want to cut off fuel downhill even when not braking but driving without throttle pedal pushed.

What you say is correct but the fuel stop signal provided to the ECU is probably yet more of this environmental nonsense i.e. belt and braces. On further reflection it could also be necessary since the advent of the fly by wire throttles as if they failed in the full on position the second you hit the brakes the ECU would reduce the fuel supply dramatically. That is my logic applied and not official

Rob, the second switch is the stop fueling signal to the ECU when you brake. Thanks for the info Richard, hopefully this will solve Stuarts problem! Would it not be possible to do a temporary repair by soldering the wire using your seven foot arms Stuart?

Brilliant find folks. Hopefully you have saved a few of us many hours of hunting the fault.
I will check mine when next in the garage - just in case.
Thanks again.

I don't think my GDI has two switches. I need to check.

That wire is green/purple. It looks like there is no adjustment. Waiting to hear if Uncle M has a switch in stock The plunger switches look fixed length to me (no backnut) I would say the adjustment is in the baseplate - you can see the slots & the nearest securing flanged bolt head

Waiting to hear if Uncle M has a switch in stock The plunger switches look fixed length to me (no backnut) I would say the adjustment is in the baseplate - you can see the slots & the nearest securing flanged bolt head If you look very carefully you can discern the difference in the adjustment that has been made utilising the back nut adjuster between the LHD and RHD switches, the exposed thread being the tell tale allied to the corresponding clearance between the skeletal back nut and the switch body, happy to be corrected once SFG has one in his hand though. I have forgotten since I replaced mine on the Sport, as I recall I just screwed it in in all the way as the RHD one appears on the photo, getting in the footwell was quite interesting as I was 16.5 Stone at the time.. It's clearer in Uncle Melvyn's image Brake switch adjustment.![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/03/31/sww.png) I've used similar limit switches with adjustments such as these in a previous life, as they are by nature just that a level of adjustment is a basic requirement.
