I had a strange sore throat with a metallic taste in my mouth plus slight chills , a cough and a runny nose. now I have no sense of taste or smell. This was the mildest cold I ever had and I have no idea if it was the virus but I have never lost my sense of taste & smell before. Balance of probability is you have hd a mild infection. But in the absence of any proper diagnosis or test I'd probably carry on as normal.

The symptoms mentioned do seem to be comparable with those reported by some people known to be infected therefore the choice is to either get a test, if available, or given the fact that the symptoms are not severe a voluntary quarantine would ensure that you don't pass the infection to somebody more vulnerable. There seems to be some evidence to show that the most contagious period is early in the infection before serious symptoms appear.

You don't want to pass it on, why take the risk? Just isolate must be best decision? Nick

Peter in the UK plebs don't get tested only Royalty & politicians it seems. Even the NHS staff are not tested regularly.. There is a strong online debate if asnomia (loss of smell & taste) is a symptom. All I know is a the home cook I can't taste anything.

569 -563 = an increase of 6 which is not a 'large hike' on yesterdays total despite many media reports to the contrary !

Coronavirus, latest news - In Italy the victims are almost 14 thousand. In Lombardy, infections and hospitalizations in intensive care are still falling. The number of doctors deceased has risen to 69: 10,000 infected.

Very interesting , it shows that its not a good idea to compare different countries death rate as they are not all taking the virus as cause of death . We are taking the higher figure in the UK .
