Yes they must be, it's very difficult to tell whether the combover effect of totally ignoring the threat has bought about this or the general extra mobility which I think is the norm for people over there and in particular air travel which is the perfect conduit for transmission.

What's really scary is the testing backlog on this side of the pond. It is my understanding that in Florida alone there are at least 150,000 testing samples waiting to be processed. They are not testing just anyone who thinks they want to be tested, only people with likely exposure and multiple symptoms are being swabbed right now.

"combover effect", I like that phrase. I guess its similar to ostrich/head in sand. If I don't look it wont happen.

Far too many outside without good reason today including many walking in the mountains where they hope to escape detection. The rules are clear and well known but there are always those who think the rules don't apply to them. The problem is that infections are falling and they think they can relax.

From tomorrow anyone who exits the house in Lombardia must wear a mask. I don't wear a mask if I just take the dog out but since I support the idea that everyone should obey the rules in this case I will be wearing a mask from tomorrow. It doesn't cost me anything and gives an example to those idiots who are not following the rules.

I hope that doing sports will stay allowed.
I avoid the weekend travel to the family as no one seems to be very comfortable with this.
But sitting in a tiny city flat (that is good for the work week) all alone has to be broken up somehow.

So I can clearly understand people going out in the woods or on the mountains as long as they do it alone or with their family.

I go cycling quite a lot - and that keeps me being able to distance - what I not used to...

That is the great fear in the Southwest that people will become complacent now that the traditional childrens Easter holiday break is upon us and we are normally deluged with the second home owners, the local councils have put out a general plea to report known second home owners if they occupy these houses during the isolation period, I have no doubt they will be reported too as we have such limited medical resource down here an outbreak would be a catastrophe.

We went for our daily constitutional walk and it was still very quiet so most people are behaving at the moment it would seem .

We won't even think about the gross error of letting hundreds of infected passengers off a cruise ship in Sydney before the test results came in.

The problem for Australia is now that the weather is getting cooler and before long the normal flu season will start and therefore the usual seasonal spread of viruses. I worry about my brother who is an ambulance officer and paramedic in northern Sydney.

Take care.

Unbelievable and unforgivable. This has been the main source of the virus spread in Australia so far.
You are right about the approaching winter. This could get very nasty.

I have a feeling "could" isn't the right word Gary.
I hope it is, for the sake of all our friends and family over there...
