It takes while to notice the effect of this knob being in/out on the valve’s position and temperature.

Bernd, Given the age of your car, it might be advisable not to make use of that valve if it is original, as the seal may have gone hard and if it is moved there is a chance you might cause a leak at the valve..?

Looking at the "lever" it seems to be of the type that has indentations on it`s shaft, which were generally used to help gauge and adjust the amount of flow of hot water through the heater as the indentations could be felt as the cable/lever was operated..

Looking at the position of the shaft in the photograph, it seems that the water supply to your heater is shut off, thus if you put the blower on it will blow cold, even when the engine is warm...?

I think that out means closed, so no heater on, as is in my 1990 4/4. But it makes not not much difference, certainly not directly after pushing or pulling it. It makes me even after more thans 25 years of driving this Morgan a bit confused from time-to-time!🇬🇧🤔🤫

All three of my Morgans Out was off, In was on. However I know there are a number here where it is the opposite way around! grin2
They are, after all, Morgan cars! thumbs

The actress said to the Bishop when its out its in and when its in its out. My 94 +8 is one of those that is the other way round.

I always find that in cold weather the physical effort of pushing and pulling it is enough to warm me up. I've never found that it actually does anything.
