My only driving is to the supermarket with SHMBO who then does the shopping as i am "considered vulnerable", then som delivery of essential shopping from our Community Shop to those even more vulnerable than me. Not appropriate for the Mog unfortunately.

Just another day at the office, had to walk this former rail line to check trees for public safety- daily increase in cyclists/walkers/exercisers! Tempted to drive it, but that might have been taking the pee. It's an Ill wind.... laugh2

In a way I have. I've been tempted to take the Fezza to the supermarket but chickened out. Its isnt the likely police attention I would likely get, but it seems daft to take the virus risk when we have been getting our own food delivered and have stayed isolated.. In any case, if I was ever to get the car keyed or panels kicked it would be doing something like taking it to the supermarket car park when there is a lockdown.

I've always been quite good at self denial though I dont know whether thats a virtue or a vice. Anyway I am denying myself a play with the toys.

If it makes you feel better about yourself not use your Morgan, then fine, that’s reason enough.

It will have no effect on the virus risks whether you do or don’t, It won’t even bother 99% of the people who see you, they really don’t care. The one percent who take a disliking to you because of your car, wouldn’t like you anyway at anytime.

Use your car if you want, just follow the government guidelines.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just remarking how often I still see this phrase appearing, not only on Talk Morgan. Many people still appear to see this whole thing as having an element of optionality.

The restrictions aren't guidelines, they are instructions with legal force issued under the The Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020. It's not a question of following guidelines, it's of obeying the law.

So 'going the long way round' or driving somewhere so you can go for a walk are not bending the guidelines, they are breaking the law.

To me it's simple. I'm not using the Morgan during the lockdown. It's not about me, this is about society. Saves making any excuses or wasting time deliberating about it. Loads of other stuff to be getting on with. And yes, I would love to take the Morgan out in this amazing weather we're having - but I won't be.

I simply could not justify it. We are not going to the supermarket anyway but are using the small shops within about 200 metres of home, we have 3 bakers, one of which is a small general shop, a butcher and a green grocer. The only thing we lack is the candlestick maker. The nearest supermarket is about a kilometre away, and that is too close to even get the engine up to temperature.

Costs are obviously higher than the supermarket and there are some things that they don't stock but we do avoid both the risk and the queues.

PS. Our town of 10,000 has officially 30 cases of COVID-19 with 4 currently in hospital and 4 officially cured, unfortunately 9 persons deceased. This probably means that there are as many as another 60 or 100 (could even be many more) who have had only light symptoms. This highlights the need for everyone to take precautions. We know of one person who was in hospital with a severe bronchitis before people were even thinking about coronavirus in this area, so he probably was infected too.

I was tempted to use the Morgan for a trip to Asda yesterday. Before going I phoned our vulnerable neighbours to see if they needed any supplies. I was given a shipping order...a trolly load... so went in my only other vehicle, the VW camper van.
Maybe next week.

From my perspective it seems that currently the Covid situation is being viewed as some kind of grey area in the UK, the home secretary as a politician, alongside occasional media reportage, seems to be promoting a lighter touch on some reputedly heavy handed police statements..?

I suspect IF things get worse, the grey will turn to black and white very quickly, which it seems may be very necessary for those who have a problem understanding the possibilities of REALITY..?
