Worked for the F40, despite Ferrari's raison d'etre being front-engined V12s...
Paradigm shifts for companies are only ever defined by the quality of the product they create. The ZR1 didn't quite cut it for various reasons so they definitely need a new approach.
However, I do totally appreciate where you're coming from, so just for you, here's a video to whet your whistle, my favourite, hand-built, all-carbon, naturally aspirated 8 litre race-built Corvette:
That might be a Corvette worth having if they can avoid the usual crappy US interior design. I love Corvettes, but when you look inside the more modern ones......Ugh.

The P&M C6RS has custom seats/wheel/dash/etc., thus addressing one of the biggest criticisms. Unlike modern Lambos/Ferraris/Porsches/etc. it is also a pukka race car for the road. Brilliant thing.
I know it is easy to look at the past with rose tinted specs but in the case of the Corvette, the C3-C5 did nothing for me. While there were aspects of the C6 that left something to be desired, it was definitely a move in the right direction - especially the Z06 and ZR1.
However, for me, the 1966 and 1967 Big Blocks will always be what a Corvette was all about...
