This petition has been started to object to MP’s awarding themselves £10000 working at home allowance. They already get £26000pa office expenses.
Anyone else getting a supplementary payment?
Self employed still await payment
Businesses struggling to get the bailed out banks to make required payments

Totally agree the amount is scandalous ....but for clarity they aren't 'looking after themselves' ...MPs pay and expenses are governed by an independent body (set up by public demand) .... they're the ones we need calling out for their ivory-tower lack of reality. One would hope any decent (or even politically savvy) MP would publicly refuse to claim.

Oh I dont know. Its been a good school for those who want their snouts in the trough. See here Note that EU office expenses for MEPs are already double those of the UK.

In fairness ( not that we want to be fair to MPs) lots of businesses are making allowances to staff that are expected to work from home. The difficulty with MPs is that they are already expected to work from home in their constituencies

Do MP's ever spend there own money or do they alwaysc require expenses ?

I've bought two reams of paper and two lots of printer cartridges so far (because I am too old to read big documents on the screen) so am still a bit shy of the £10,000.

On the other hand I have saved £100's not driving to meetings or to the office, so I am substantially up on working from home.

Exactly. It is hard to find the justification. Surely they should be paying folk to get PPE to the NHS with this.

Im self employed so while others are being furloughed ( and some STILL complaining its ONLY 80% ) I get ziltch help till HMRC 'send me a letter' asking if I need help and then to claim .... in JUNE

I sell non essential 'luxuries' so guess whats happened to my orders ! I dont know how this will go for me. PMs expenses are a piss take, but they're all at it. Rotters.

Why extra expenses allowance?
What extra costs over and above the normal are actually being incurred?
Disgraceful.
