Italy continues in a slow but continuous reduction in new cases, hospitalisations and deaths. What we need to see is a reductions of new cases to zero and a decline in the number currently positive.

Covid-19, the situation as of April 18

175,925 total cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Currently 107,771 people are positive, 23,227 have died and 44,927 have been cured.

Changes compared to the previous bulletin:

3,491 new positive cases
473 deceased
2200 healed

Among the 107,771 currently positive (+ 809):

80,031 are in solitary confinement at home (+ 1,667)
25,007 hospitalized with symptoms (- 779)
2,733 in intensive care (-79)

There are 1,305,833 (+ 61,725) tampons carried out.

Sobering statistics , I really hope you are right about cured.
We are relatively unscathed in comparison with about 1300 cases 11 deaths (most in their 90's at rest homes) and something like 18 new cases yesterday , thank goodness the prime minister bit the bullet early . The worry is that we are going to ease restrictions this week and people will want to go back to there old ways which are no longer appropriate and won't be probably for the rest of the year.

Some of you may find it helpful to know "tampons" is an Italian word for the "swabs" used to take a nasal sample....

That reminds me of a story.... who said no not another one..well it`s just an old man kinda thing..(-: Arriving in Pisa creaking and groaning, the Morgans steering/suspension not me... it was HOT, no VERY HOT, and the and such were the temps that summer in Italy that the grease had melted in my grease gun... pulled into a petrol station in the hope of finding a shelve loaded with grease.... Ever tried explaining what grease is to someone who shares not your tongue..and knows not what a Wanner grease gun is...Not easy... Should you ever find yourself short of grease in Italy... GRASSO, is the stuff you are after..(-: Sorry for the thread divert from the more serious side of life.... but I did cut the story short, honest.. oldgit laugh2

Edwin, apologies, I understand but only one language and have limitations enough in that regard. At a rough guess I suspect you are conveying thanks for the Grasso info..? If so, no problemo, happy to help...(-:
