I have a couple of experiences with cancelled trips. My first was a trip to Amsterdam via Airbnb and EasyJet. Airbnb immediately offered full refunds, top marks to them. EasyJet initially took off their option to take a cash refund from their website although that option is now reinstated but until yesterday it meant a looong phone call. A trip to Namibia through a small specialist company was again handled quite brilliantly, if you want to go to Africa or South America when the world opens up give a company called 2by2 a chance. I opted to book my own flights by BA, big mistake. The route was LHW- Joburg-Namibia, both flights badged as BA. BA are not doing refunds online nor will they refund the Joburg- Namibia leg as, whilst it’s part IAG owned and badged BA they will not refund Comair flights, even though they took the money (my travel advisor is looking into the legitimacy of that), I have to deal with Comair direct. BA’s voucher offer is only valid for 1 year, use it or lose it, who knows what will be open in 12 months. A colleague made 10 calls to BA, some cut off, some timed out before waiting 2 hours on hold to get their cash back. I fully understand the problems the travel industry is in, if BA offered an open ended voucher or added value to it, as other airlines have done Id take the voucher, instead of which I will avoid them like a rabid dog. How the world reopens will be problematic, especially when insurance is going to be a huge issue but some companies will come out of this with credit, others not so.

If anything the current density of CV in the UK makes many other place slightly less dangerous. Of course the issue is that you may be making their site worse! It would not surprise me if borders essentially remain closed for some time. Other than not wanting to risk the entry of contagious people most countries would not welcome the possibility of non-residents requiring health care at this time. I had hoped that we would still be able to go to Caramulo in September but that is now looking unlikely. For me that means postponing until 2022 as I am already committed for September 2021 and the 100th anniversary celebrations for Moto Guzzi in the town where I live. The travel plans included a ferry to Barcelona, travelling across Spain to Portugal, and returning via Cantabria and southern France. I have not yet cancelled the ferry booking but..................
