I envy people with such planning skills.

I have the opposite approach and therefore enjoy flexibility.
As an experienced traveler I learned to handle surprising situations, often a result of poor plannings

Cooperman .... that's a really interesting to-do list ..... we pretty much abandoned European touring many years back, the logic being 'let's road-trip the States and elsewhere while we're up for some roughing it ...and go back to Europe when we need to throttle back on desert hiking and dodging bears' .... think that a combination of this disruption and passing years may see us return to culture and the Arts over wilderness....there's plenty of interesting stops on your list to file away for better days.

Jon - if you get a chance to do the route next year, it is worth adding the Battle of the Bulge museum in Bastogne to your list. An excellent museum with a very good cafe.
Link here in case you need it.

I was off to Sicily and Malta in 12 days. 9 days in Sicily and plans to catch the concours in Malta at the end of May. All self organised and with a few like minded friends in an array of 25+year old motors. Postponed for 12 months. I spend 5 -6 months travelling since retiring 5 years ago. With at least one 4,000 mile Morgan trip a year. I still have Moldova, Ukraine and Turkey in the planning stage.

We were supposed to be returning a motorhome from the manufacturers (Roller Team) in Italy over a period of three weeks to the hiring company near Luton. They buy 250+ per year and the cheapest way for them to get them all back is to offer hire at half price (genuine discount, we checked multiple companies for price comparison) and include the ferry ticket and continental insurance. No limit on mileage or time just that the motorhomes all have to be back by the end of May and collections are available from the back end of March. Cost to you is fuel, campsites etc and travel to Poggibonsi near Pisa. Did it last year and had great fun. Just Go are hoping to run the same programme next year.
