What I'd really like is someone to develop a properly made Perspex version to fit the factory 'screen inserts

Nice one Kevin  I wonder if the 'rods' will pull out, so you could adjust internally ? Yes, Hi Jon, the rods pull out and are about 12cm long on each side. The inside tube (created by bending the sheet round is so crude that it barely represents a circle. When I pulled one of the bars out it had a small sliver of wood jammed in there to create some extra friction. It is a disappointing bit of engineering, sourced by the dealer and so may not be an MMC part. I'm tempted to make up a set of my own from tinted perspex, using the same mountings and having a thumbscrew through the clamp to apply some pressure. Why dont you try the usual strip of grey transparent vinyl across the inside top of the windscreen. You could even have Kevin and ........ printed on it!

Where's Bonesie when you need him ? I think a perspex unit would be good too, I looked , only briefly, for S/S fittings that might work from other applications - glass clamps etc. So far I haven't found anything and might keep that on the agenda. It needs the more advanced fettling skills of Bonesie, DaveW and others.

I have fitted perspex visors to my 2006 S1 Roadster, & I certainly don't posses the 'fettling skills' of Dave W etc! But was able to modify them to fit around the rear view mirror, just needed the fixings to suit the windscreen studs.
There is a previous thread on here somewhere, they are advertised as Mini visors, available from c-t-sspares on e-bay in a number of colours

So I could drill the holes to meet the distance of the studs of the Morgan screen without having the additional holes of the Mini dimensions. Could you post a photo how it looks on your Series 1 Roadster? That would be very helpful. Thanks.

If I recall correctly I simply peeled back the leather and squeezed the aluminium in a bit, I can't recall if I completely removed or only partially removed the rods. Still good after 65,000 kms I did grind back the flat ends of the rods to about the edge of the stand off spacers because if left to long they interfere with the action of the hood clip levers. I did the same. Took off the visors, removed rods, protected leather and put visor "tube" into vice and carefully squeezed at both end. Worked a treat!

If anyone can get me an accurate 2d drawing Im happy to do some. Mr B, it's not the Perspex that's the issue. it's the invention of some really nice hinge mechanism that fits the factory 'screen studs I'm thinking a nice st steel channel with integral friction rod that we can bond the leading edge of the Perspex into ?

I'm just wondering if the original or other sun visors that are made of non-transparent material are perhaps healthier. The plexiglass lets UV light through and you feel protected without sunglasses. But the UV light is not good for the eyes?
