Hello all,
Another newbie joining the fold (or hoping to). I am looking to buy my first Morgan sometime this summer with a bit of luck - just got to make some room in the garage first by selling one of the others. I'm hoping to get a 4/4 Sport, perhaps an older Plus 4, in 2 seat form. I'm not sure I entirely 'get' the Plus 8 - always seemed like a bit too much engine to me, but then I haven't driven one! I'm not looking to do too much in the way of tyre melting antics, just some nice summer cruising here in the Marches.
I look forward to chatting to you all!
MM

Welcome MM. Have you had the chance to drive a 4/4 or a +4?

Welcome MM, I think as Steven says you need to drive both. The 4/4 Sport is a great car, if a trifle over-geared imho in standard form. Do keep us up-to-date on how you get on?

Welcome. I havea 97 +4 and compared to my 4/4 the difference is it is built on the +8 chassis so a bit more room and also it has more torque so is smoother / easier to drive.

I haven't driven either as yet - hoping I won't get a big shock. Last time I owned a comparable car was 20 years ago. I got here via Jags, Jensens and currently RR&B, so any Morgan might be something of a shock! But after some years of waftmobiles (nice though they are) I am looking for a different experience. I had thought to stick with an older Plus 4 at around £20-25K, but at the Vie en Blue meeting at Prescott I saw a new 4/4 and was stunned to realise I could buy a new one for not a lot more. Having now looked online there seem to be a few pre registered bargains as well. Black with saddle leather will suit me fine!
I'll keep you posted.
