It makes the rear end a lot stiffer & improves the ride considerably for not much dosh.

After brake reaction bars it is the next step in improving handling & stiffening the chassis

Work has been manic the last two days , but have made a bash plate out of 3mm steel. Going to make a smaller one to cover the panhard rod bolt, although much less chance of it puncturing the tank.

Also made some new drivers side seat rails, which drop the seats by a smidge under a cm. Will give me a bit more leg room (aand fancy going back to a 14" Wheel as the 13" covers too much of the dials. May even push back to a 15"

Finally got round to bolting everything together. Still got to make the bump stock brackets and fit them, but definitely a light at the end of the tunnel smile

Top photo is old springs. New springs have not only centralised the rear wheel perfectly but also raised the back end by about 3-4cm. That'll stop me grinding the rear number plate over speed humps and inclines!

Very happy with the result. Lots of 'bounce' but the dampers control in nicely. Hope to make/it the bump stops tomorrow smile

Happy to help. I made it up as I went along!

A helper would have been useful at times. grin2

Agreed! Reckon could have shaved a good few hours off the job with another pair of hands.....

And so to bumpstops.

Hour or so cutting, banging and bending and we have the basics ready. Lots of drilling, sanding, painting and fitting to go!

The bumpstops are progressive from an Alfa 103, as recommended by Peter Ballard.

Going to use the spare chunks of bar to make some spacers so I have some adjustment. Can always add more if need, I have some 10mm plate but it's a bugger to cut and drill!

And finally!

Bumpstops finished and fitted. I think that's it for assembly, all jobs I set out to do completed bar the brake line (Melvyn is going to try and sort me out)..

Hopefully some reasonable news on Sunday and I might be able to go out for a test drive smile smile Still, got a day in school booked for 20th May if not.
