I heartily encourage you to watch BBC comedy The Detectorists on Sky if you can.
Set over three series, it follows the trials and tribulations of a metal detecting club in Essex.

Every character is just fantastic and the story and characters are just so well written.

Do yourself a favour, pop your feet up and dive into this British comedy. Im sure you will love it.

As a detectorist I can say like all good comedy this series is just so close to the truth.

Also it's worth noting Mackenzie Crook is a keen detectorist himself so he knows the game...

I found the series very funny as I have no problem laughing at myself...

Lovely gentle humour. And although set in Essex, much was filmed around Framlingham in Suffolk (the village hall where they meet and the shop are both in the centre of Fram)

I love this series it’s superb, but Netflix here in Australia has only 2 seasons? Hope we get the third one soon

I agree Biglewey, the series takes a gentle poke at the hobby but I have yet to meet a fellow detectorist who takes exception to it. There are plenty "in jokes" to keep us laughing at ourselves.

A great series.

Bonesie, I've found that as the years have progressed ring pulls have all but disappeared but they certainly used to be a nuisance. Having said that there is still plenty other junk out there to keep us getting unnecessarily excited. happy3

Yes found plenty of ring pulls but some nice stuff too. Roman ring and coins, bronze age spear head and many other coins some old some not so old . It's fun and takes you away from all the troubles of the world for a few hours. Funnily enough dinky cars in the middle of nowhere- you never know....
