A job I've been dreading was cutting the holes in the rear panel for the fuel filler caps/necks. Hotmog didn't have these fitted as it used a bag tank with a filler behind the spare wheel cover,

Anyway, thanks to Cheshire Dave and Stephen 888 for some great dimensions and drawings, I now have two fillers fitted back into the rear panel!

Originally the idea was to use a hole cutter but I wasn't confident mine would do a neat job, so I marked out the hole using my trusty school boy compass set (not used since 1980) and then drilled and filed the hole out. Took longer but felt much more in control of the job.

Looks excellent. I don't think I would have had the balls to do that.

A huge amount of work there and it looks amazing . That engine is going to be fun !

Fitting a fuel tank is a very unpleasant job!!!

Simon at Sifab made me a new fully baffled fuel tank, with internal trap doors et al to prevent fuel starvation if ever I took the car on a track day. The tank is built to original dimensions and I needed a new one as the old tank was a fuel cell and has since been sold.

Keen to keep things as per original spec, I made up a 2 part wooden floor which bolted to the chassis rails. The fuel tank then sits on ally runners that I fitted to spread the load more. Fitting the wooden floor wasn't really that difficult but siting the tank on its runners and then bolting it up was a very long winded job. Anyway, its done and it looks great!

Top of the diff looks interesting. A single anti-tramp bar?

Hi Graham, not an anti tramp bar but a torque reaction bar. It ran down to a bracket near the tail of the gearbox and secure to the floor and chassis rail. I don't need it, so dispensed with it.

It's designed to keep the nose of the diff in the correct plane when really powering on the power. They often disconnect them if running in the wet to help improve grip I guess.
The car retains its normal twin anti tramp bars and panhard rod though.
