I fall with style to quote Buzz Lightyear. Getting up isn't so pretty.

i've been putting down some formwork ready to lay a small seating area in the garden, bodges so far:
The pegs have a mind of their own, I suspect they are female and refuse to go in straight. The boards are sawn pine and have shredded my hands in the few seconds I handled them without gloves. The ground is not quite as level as I thought and so I have a gap under the board at one end where no doubt concrete will escape.
Otherwise I'm feeling pretty smug. I learned how to re-roof a shed with tiles, laid 9 metres of path, painted everything that is static, repaired a rotten sill, dug a french drain the list goes on and on.
Now that we are free at last my DIY days are shortening as my mind turns to trips out, could be tomorrow.

There is some pitting, for perfection I should remove the end pipes and mechanically polish.
But then it wouldn't be a bodge.

Excellent work Peter, a true bodger would combine steps 1-4 with "rub with old rag liberally soaked in petrol"

moved not a whole new sphere of experience today - repaired and adjusted SWMBOs sewing mannequin. Needed a tummy tuck which I achieved with a scrap length of Ali and some blingy, spangly ribbon!

We are in the process of having an extension put on our 1850s granite cottage. this meant that part of the gable was demolished. I decided to use a granite lintel as a - rather uncomfortable - bench but primarily to keep part of the history of the cottage on-site. As an aside i was surprised how tired I was afterwards and wondered if I was coming down with something, my wife an ex-nurse of many years experience pointed out that I was suffering from a terminal illness - getting older laugh2

We are all suffering the same condition, it seems our minds are, mostly, ageing more slowly than our bodies!

A new Bodge today....

For some time the beading between the radiator cowl and the wings has been moving about, clearly lose.
So I decided to investigate.
First I had to remove the front number plate, which had been fixed with double sided neoprene tape. This was not easy, without bending the alloy number plate.
Then it was easy, grill and badge bar off, and have a good look.
This is what I found:

No screw in the captive nut. It was the same on the other side. I found a couple of hex headed set screws, but they wouldn't go in.
So I removed the lower mounting screws and moved everything about until I'd got the 2 screws in place, with lock washers.
The I got the lower nuts in place, and fitted nyloc nuts.
Everything lined up so I tightened it all.
The beading is now nicely nipped up between cowl and wing.

The question is " were the screws ever there, or were they forgotten when the car was being worked on or did they vibrate lose and fall out?" The answer matters not, really, the job is done and I enjoyed it.

Now I have to refit the grill, I'm thinking about taking the mesh off and spraying it black and then a cream "8", or "V8" or "+8" on it. Thoughts?

Also thinking about the best way to fit the number plate, I don't want to use sticky pads again as it is important that the number plate can be removed to easily to access the badge bar, and other bits.
So I've sprayed up some "built in washer" self tapping screws so they will not be obvious on the white plate. .

The self tappers sound fine Peter. As you know you can get coloured plastic caps to go over the screws as well.
