As a often vocal 'left leaner' I've been called a snowflake on a few occasions. It tends to reflect a lack of any credible objection smile

That and 'woke' seem to have replaced the previous term insult 'politically correct'. I'm not sure why being empathic, understanding and considerate would be an insult but there you go, may be I'm a bit old fashioned.

And I remind people, get lots of snowflakes together and we can really p1ss on your chips smile

John (Rainbow) Just as I was saying world peace had broken out you seemed to take it as a challenge to play the players and not the ball again ? Opinion and personal perspective is perfectly fair but even if you do disagree keep to the ball so we don't descend into The Sun territory? Please.

btw is your chosen name Rainbow(J) meant to be irony given some of the strong views you do seem to hold? I always meant to ask that.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Snowflakes are a thing to be treasured as they are fleeting in our country.

Back to the thread once more..

What did WHO say?
"It is important to put this on the table: this virus may become just another endemic virus in our communities, and this virus may never go away," Dr Ryan told the virtual press conference from Geneva.
"HIV has not gone away - but we have come to terms with the virus."
Dr Ryan then said he doesn't believe "anyone can predict when this disease will disappear".
There are currently more than 100 potential vaccines in development - but Dr Ryan noted there are other illnesses, such as measles, that still haven't been eliminated despite there being vaccines for them.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed it was still possible to control the virus, with effort.
"The trajectory is in our hands, and it's everybody's business, and we should all contribute to stop this pandemic," he said.
WHO epidemiologist Maria van Kerkhove also told the briefing: "We need to get into the mindset that it is going to take some time to come out of this pandemic."

Those with left leaning brains tend to be nice and well meaning but then it starts to get a bit silly as you go leftwards and you end up with the Labour front bench, The Guardian, identity politics and yes wokeness and PC and all the rest of it.

The world is a tough place and often needs tough solutions.

I'd say the world has suddenly turned very socialist in its solutions to a tough situation. smile

Whatever works!

Point is, the decisions and power have been with a conservative government for a long time and that’s how it will stay well into the future.

Keep our right leaning brains under pressure though!

Exactly, socialism works, especially when things get tough and capitalism fails (evident by all the big companies begging for a government/taxpayers handout)

According to my right leaning friends, Boris is one of the more centrist conversatives. Personally, I think he's an asshole, but it will be interesting to see where he takes the conservative party over the next few years.

Ah thoughtful. Peter stated that China came to the aid of Italy with the delivery of PPE. If I hit you on the nose then gave you a handkerchief to mop the blood up would you forgive me for hitting you on the nose. The Chinese government showed Italians applauding the Chinese deliveries from their balconies. They were not they were applauding for quite different reasons. This is the type of propaganda that the west is up against. As some one else posted China is buying up farms, mines water resources etc all over the world. They have a long lease on the port of Athens for instance that will fit in nicely with there belt road. As for Chinese takeaway and other off the cuff tongue in cheek remarks we British have always had black humour. Perhaps Austrians are too straight laced. If we are not vigilant we will all be subject to Chinese hegemony.
