I have read on here that removing the bobbins can be a challenge. Mine are intact but all have quite a few cracks on the surface. Having read that a few of you have had your pipes actually fall to the ground, am thinking prevention is worth the effort. However, mine are stretched at a decent angle, as if the top and bottom mounts are not well-aligned. Do others have this same fitment issue? Mine is a 2016. Any tips? And where are you sourcing your replacement bobbins? Cheers.

No doubt the bobbin bolts are rusted on, so a hacksaw is called for. The chassis bracket is a not very artistic piece of bent metal , and, will be d to suit.
You might find a slight rattle after re-fitting which I attribute to a slight misalignment at the flexible joint causing some contact. Calls for a bit more bending.

I think SFG has maybe given you the answer for a 4 wheel Morgan, you shouldn't have to hacksaw a 2016 M3W exhaust. The M3W the exhaust bobbins are not too tricky to replace and are accessible. You can usually align the exhaust better if you loosen the two header stud nuts to allow the headers to move slightly, tighten them up again once it is all in place and not stressing the mountings. You can also elongate the mounting holes to get better alignment. Replacement bobbins are very similar to Renault 25 items but a look on eBay will usually find something suitable at a fraction of the cost. They are M8 studs and about 25mm tall. I don't think a 2016 installation exhaust will have the early type mounts, it was the early ones that gave problems and sometimes allowed the pipes to hit the ground.

The left side will fit easier than the right. The mounting bracket for the exhaust on the right side did not account for the fact that the right cylinder is set back compared to the left so fitting can be a challenge. The newer bobbins are pretty good. The original stock bobbins from 2012 to ? were not fit for hot mounts. The new ones do a much better job.

A good possible source for those in the US might be McMaster Carr. You can input the criteria that you are looking for to help narrow things down so it might be worth taking a look. I have ordered numerous items from them, including the bobbins to support my Plus 4 radiator, and have always been very pleased.

M3W bobbins are classic Mini exhaust bobbins, also used on Morgan radiators and many other applications.

Thanks for the input. Even though mine is a 2016, there is still some obvious mis-alignment as the bobbins look more like parallelograms than cylinders!

I like the idea of stainless woven bobbins.

These last much better, over 5 years on my 2013 car. I had 2 dragging exhaust incidents with original parts.
