This afternoon Thursday 21st May around 45 Morgan Three Wheelers would have been arriving in Liverpool for an overnight stay prior to sailing out to the Isle of Man for a weeks holiday. As with many other events Covid 19 put paid to the event.
Organisers Ian and Maria had put great effort into the weeks activities and planned it all meticulously to ensure everyone had a good time, we were really looking forward to meeting all of you regulars and especially the newcomers to the group whom we have not yet met.
The excellent weather is really just rubbing it in big time, as you all know the event has been rescheduled for August 13th 2021 to sail out of Liverpool, so meeting in Liverpool Thurs 12th for a get together the day before. Hotel details to follow much later.
The recent Albert Ball Virtual meet hosted by Red Leader Chris Golding, went well with 21 people attending on Zoom, great to see everyone again, lots of chatting and certainly much drinking by some !!
After this many said we should arrange an IOM Virtual on Zoom too.
So we have waited till the time came around and here we are,
We would have arrived in Liverpool around now ( 1700 hrs) I guess quite a few would be in the bar of the Crowne Plaza for sure I would be!
After dinner this evening we intended to stroll across the road into the city, maybe take a look in The Cavern ( I do not think it is the original one ? ) and generally catch up with what everyone has been up to.
For those who are interested and perhaps sat at home furloughed I shall post here and on the MTWC Facebook page ( which I run jointly with Bill Critchlow) what we would have done each day in the Island.Where we would have visited etc.
Then, next Wednesday evening would have been Gala Dinner evening at the hotel, so i think it apt we have the Virtual meet then. We shall have some lighthearted questions about where we would have been each day, to test your attention or lack of it, we will all watch a short video of a special sidecar race on the Island with a couple of pertinent questions. Then we shall do some scoring to see who has been paying attention.
There will, of course be a free discussion too. We do hope you like the idea and will join us ?
Of course as is usual with our Gala Dinner evening there needs to be awards for the best score and I wonder what the worst will be ?
So,to start the show, below is a picture of an excited little boy, Dad is taking the photo prior to sailing across to Douglas.
It is 1980, the little boy clearly got the "Morgan" Three Wheeler bug as he is booked to be in the group next year driving his own Mog.
Who is he ?

Thanks Ian.
You are well aware of our "Inability" with computers, but we'd like to attempt to take part next Wednesday. We have had a trial run with our sons, using a Zoom account, and with telephone support we did eventually take part. We will have another trial run before next Wednesday. Don't hold anything up if we don't make it.
Looking forward to the Zoom meeting and the holiday next year.

Allan and Helen

Friday 22nd May
IOM Trip. After a leisurely breakfast there would have been time to walk it off along the waterfront before it was time to get in the ferry queue. Those staying at the Crowne Plaza have all of a 20ft drive to get in line for the 1115 am departure. Our ferry was to be Mannanan
.MAIN CHARACTERISTICS Year Built: 1998
GRT 5743
NRT 2057
Length overall: 96 metres
Length waterline: 86 metres
Beam: 26 metres
Beam of hulls: 4.5 metres
Draft: 4 metres (Max)
Passengers and crew: 850
Vehicles: 200
Main engines: 4 x resiliently mounted Caterpillar 3618 marine diesel engines.
Propulsion power: 28,800 KW Total Power @ 1050 RPM.
Water Jets: 4 x 150D Wartsila LIPS, steering and reversing.
Built by Incat Tasmania Pty Ltd
From the moment Manannan started service on the Douglas to Liverpool route on 22 May 2009, Manannan has impressed passengers with her bright, spacious accommodation offering a variety of seating areas, including two cinema lounges, a large bar area at the stern and the Coast-to-Coast cafe that offers a wide selection of food options.

With an expected arrival time of 1315 hrs into Douglas we would have had a speedy crossing compared to the conventional ferry.
After disembarking we would gather in the disembarkation area and be led in convoy out of Douglas on the coast road by Red Leader Chris Golding into Ramsey.
Tea and coffee and biscuits laid on in the Lounge as checking in our large group will take some time. Name tags for everyone given out.
After check in time to relax and take in the surroundings, perhaps a promenade walk .
Dinner in the hotel restaurant in our own private room with a welcome extended to everyone.

Good it wasn’t raining. Did anyone suffer from the sun driving up to Liverpool yesterday? wink

PS - Crowne Plaza did get round yesterday to agreeing verbally to refund my non-cancellable bookings - as it was them doing the cancelling.

Come on guys give our new joiners a big welcome to TM Their first post !
Colin and Carole are regular attendees to our get togethers in their "Brilliant Green" 1933 Morgan Supersports with its powerfull ( non standard) JAP engine.
Who remembers them leading us over the Long Mynd last year at a cracking pace?
Colin has been "looking" at TM for a long time glad you have finally given in and joined in.
