One thing for sure when you buy an English vehicle you have to accept some quirkiness.
Quirkiness is fine, but poor reliability/quality is another matter. Lotus and McLaren get it broadly right, as do Ariel and Caterham. I think it's far to say that the M3W was just woefully under-developed when rolled out, but has largely got away with it under the banner of 'englishness'. Whilst it was a useful term to mask the issues, I don't think it does the brand any favours. Fortunately I think the main issues are now resonably resolved, so buyers should have a degree of confidence in a new (or suitably mod'd/updated) purchase.

I do hear of reliability issues with McLarens. I suspect the M3W issues are more design defficiencies (eg bevel box, driveline) rather than production quality (although we do hear of some of those).

My Plus 8 has been as reliable as any tin top I have ever had. My old 3W was not. However I have been quietly watching and reading and it does appear that the later ones seem to be better. With patience the older ones it seems, can be sorted. This is in testament to some very dedicated or should I say, daft as a brush 3W owners. I am fully aware that there will be some niggles along the way, all I ask is, please bloody start when I press that button Order is in and new steering wheel on order.

Peter. Congratulations. The V8 and M3W will be great contrasts to drive. Thinking about it myself!

Wow. Congratulations. All fingers crossed that your faith in the improvements to later models proves to be justified, and that you have a great M3W experience this time around.

Currently awaiting on confirmation of a couple of items that I've asked for.
