It is probably a complete coincidence that there was a spike in infections following Cummings' visit to Durham.

Strange isn't it how the people calling for (non-infected) Neil Ferguson and Catherine Calderwood's resignation are now leaping to the defence of Cummings?

Piers Morgan has summed it up. Lockdown is dead now. If it's ok for the likes of Cummings to break the rules, then nobody is going to take any notice.

On the BBC the govt says he didn't break the rules. Strange how if you are infected you can cross the country to a second home so your child can get child care from a grand parent.
For once I agree with Mr Morgan.

Great tweet from Nick Pettigrew:

The only part of his story I actually believe is the part where Dominic Cummings couldn’t find anybody in a 250-mile radius who’d lift a finger to help him. If he was on fire you suspect he would remain conspicuously free of piss.

Cummings either drove 280 miles without a break whilst suffering from the effects of Covid 19, or he stopped for fuel and a rest at a motorway service station.

Either way he was putting others at risk.

Selfish moron.

The relentless ad nauseam saturation coverage on Cummings is another press witch hunt. Plenty of other people have done the same, they are just not as famous or as apparently disliked.

Perhaps the press can’t find other more newsworthy items ...

I think it's the blatant lying and obvious hypocrisy about the attempted whitewash that's getting people angry. Remember how Neil Ferguson was treated? Instant resignation for a much lesser offence.

We're expected to believe that the only available recourse for Cummings and his partner was to drive to Durham to get support when her brother lives in London too and wasn't ill. And they had to do it twice. With a day out in Barnard Castle.

Whether Cummings resigns or not is immaterial since he'll just hang around a bit and come back when the fuss has tied down. It's the damage done to people's belief in leadership that's been trashed. We used to think that our leaders should be held to a higher standard, that's why we respect them and follow their instruction. Now it seems as if they really do believe the rules don't apply to them.

I can't see what all fuss is about, all politicians fib and try to get away with things, why unearth are the public surprised when these things come to light, it's human nature. Regardless of which party, if it's not the Tories driving 200 miles, its Labour lying and taking us into an illegal war, oh I see now why driving to Durham can cause so much anger and disbelief in our leaders.....

Not many are noting that a 4 year old child is at the centre of this.
