Monday morning, 25th May, lovely morning with a good walk along Ramsey's promenade in breaking sunshine and looking forward to a great day ahead.
After breakfast its time to fire the Mogs up and join the course at Parliament Square and up over the mountain.Today we are visiting the south of the Island.
Quiz question taken from the following information,
First stop is Murrays Motorcycles at Santon, south of Douglas.
Murrays Motorcycle Museum, Santon, Isle of Man. A sometimes overlooked hidden gem for tourists visiting the Isle of Man, (especially loved by those motorcyclists who know of it), is Murrays Motorcycle Museum! Located at Santon, the museum can be found on the left hand side of New Castletown Road, just before the famous “Fairy Bridge”. This is the road that runs south from Douglas towards the Island’s Ronaldsway airport.
The owners have a large area for parking all the Mogs up and are keen to talk about the bikes.
We then carry on South to Ronaldsway and The Manx Aviation and Military Museum. This museum is small but packed with interesting exhibits and the volunteers are so keen to talk to visitors.
Back into the trikes and carry on south to The Sound Visitor Centre and Cafe for the lunch stop,Stunning views over The Calf of Man.
About
At the Island's very southern tip is one of the most scenic places in the British Isles. Abundant with wildlife and natural wonders, this area is a hotspot for seals sunbathing on the rocky Kitterland, a small rocky islet. The area is also frequented by dolphins and basking sharks and the swirling tidal races are popular with adventurous kayakers.

Walkers will also appreciate the coastal footpaths which lead from the The Sound to Port Erin or Spanish Head, Cregneash and the Chasms in Port St Mary.

If you have enough time book a boat trip to or around the Calf of Man. As a Nature Reserve and Bird Observatory, the Calf, a 600 acre islet located on one of western Britain's major migration routes, is an ideal place for bird life, fauna and flora. Around 33 species of seabirds breed on the islet annualy, include Manx Shearwater, Kittiwake, Razorbill and Shag. Other species normally observed on the island include Peregrine, Hen Harrier and Chough.

Suitably refreshed we will continue to Port Erin where some may wish to visit the Steam railway, then on to Peel which is a popular spot for visitors. Lots to see here with a delightful seafront walk.
Heading North again we follow the coast and back into Ramsey and the hotel. Time to relax and have some refreshment.
Then onto dinner,
This evening is the only one we are not eating at the hotel. We have booked Vellikas Indian Restaurant in Ramsey exclusively for us. They serve Southern Indian Cuisine and are laying on a special Banquet evening for us and are even prepared to cater for Rog G's taste ! Partying late into the night.
There are several alternatives available for those who prefer.

Thats as far as you dare do, I bet.
I agree though it is a stunning place, some of the gang are going to have Go Pro's on whilst motoring the TT course so we hope to put together some great pictorial memories.

Thanks Ian for all your daily updates, we feel as though we are living it already and the weather is with us.
We had the offer of accommodation in Port Erin in 1993, as a then younger family with 2 small children. It was for the first week in June, TT practice week so could not be refused! A great week in beautiful Port Erin, we watched the evening practice on most days at different parts of the course, mostly Start & Finish and the Creg. It was the days of Joey and Robert Dunlop, Nick Jefferies, Bob Grant and Ian Lougher, who I think may still race, with good bikes but not so much funding. I think the lap record was held by Carl Fogarty, Senior TT 123.6 and Steve Hislop, TT Formula 1,123.5 mph, what a difference to today and how difficult it must be to add even 1mph on that circuit.
Racing also took place that week at the Southern 100, Castletown, a shorter, but tight road circuit in the south. We spent sunny evenings on Douglas seafront with all the bikes and many performances whilst our 9 & 11 year old son and daughter were looked after, cared for and entertained by the impassioned bikers, decked in leathers etc, unbelievable maybe, but great people.
During the daytime we toured the island to the many interesting places including driving the TT course, unfortunately the view from the top of Snaefell was shrouded in cloud the day we arrived but we enjoyed the train journey.
I always wanted to return to the island, preferably on 2 wheels but with age I think 3 wheels is safer for all concerned.

Seeing this chap reaching 175 in places makes the mind boggle that his four wheeled record is a full 7mph less than Peter Hickman's. What nerves he must have!

Tuesday 26th May IOM
Tuesday 26th May, what a night last night at Vellikas ! It will long be remembered for many reasons !
Even though it was a long night there was still a number of Mogs fired up this morning at 6.00 am for a sneaky lap of the TT course. It is such a fabulous morning here, sunny and only a little chilly.( not like last night ?)
Lots of late arrivals for breakfast, not that it matters we are all having such a good holiday, with lots of spare time after the days activities to either relax or take some long walks along the coastal pathways.Or just sit on the promenade and eat ice cream.The Ramsey Park hotel is on the seafront and has a super terrace for people watching and relaxing.
The IOM is such a magical place and always has been for me. As a youngster we lived in Birkenhead and the IOM was a place we went to a lot each summer.Happy Days !

So, what are we going to get up to today ? First off we are taking the short drive to Laxey. we have arranged with Manx Heritage that we can visit and park all the Morgans in the grounds in front of the wheel for a great photo shoot. On our last visit in 2014 we did the same.
Whilst here some may wish to take a walk down to Ballaglass Glen, only for the fit though.

After the visit here there is a choice to make, you may park the Mog at the Manx electric railway and catch a train into Douglas to spend a few hours looking around or head off to the TT Grandstand to meet up for a drive of the course but at a more leisurely pace stopping off at places along the way for coffee , There will be a lunch stop too. Alternatively you could catch the train up to Snaefell, this is a lovely trip especially on a nice day like today. You will be given details of all this, or just do your own thing. the Island is so compact to get around.
When it suits you, back to the hotel to relax, take a look around Ramsey or whatever you wish to do.

Hi Colin,
Thanks for sharing your memories. That's what life should be about and every trip we do as a group makes lots more to remember as we get older. I love the IOM, a magical place and lots to explore wherever you go. Living in Birkenhead and born just after WW 2 ended our town was almost in total ruins. Mum and Dad ( and many other families) would take us over to the Isle of Man to escape the surroundings of devastation everywhere. During the summers we went every weekend !
