Hi Jochen,
where do I get EBC GreenStuff pads (on the continent)?
What do you mean, "pads for the current CAPARO´s are the same than the ones before"? Was there an update on the brakes on 2011 models I do not know of?
If the calipers could hold bigger pads, who knows where to start looking?
Aren't these CAPARO's renamed AP calipers? Are they sold as OEM equipment to any major car maker - or just low volume and kit car manufacturers?
The situation used to be that everything was under the AP banner ( in fact, originally it was AP Lockheed) They were based in Coventry.
The AP company was split up, and a separate high performance road car and racing division was created, called "AP Racing Limited". The AP Racing company was sold to Brembo, and in their (Brembo) published corporate structure, AP Racing Ltd are a 100% owned subsidiary of Brembo.
The lesser mortals of the former AP company were, I think, sold to the Rover Group, ( the story goes that this was to enable the continued supply for black cabs, and Range Rovers!) After a few more twists and turns, this is what ended up as Caparo AP
You can find the story here:
http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=27226484 That having been said, Caparo AP stuff is fitted as OEM to quite a few makes, including I think, Aston Martin.
Because of this, although you might find that the LOOK of the calipers has changed ( for example they might now be billet) there may be no difference in pad size)
To give you an example. I have AP ( old style) four pots on my 4/4 which is a 2000 car and I was wondering if there was any advantage in changing to the calipers as fitted to the current 4/4 Sport.
I might have been luckier than some other posters because actually spoke on the telephone to the guy at Caparo AP who was liaision with Morgan and he told me that the only advantages of swapping were: 1.the billets were better - looking 2. There would be a small saving in unsprung weight
So, I left them as they were ( but I did replace all hoses with Goodridge stainless braided items- which gave a small advantage. I also run 'Greenstuffs' I don't run EBC disks because they are prone to judder so I now stick with the original rotors
Mind you, it all pales in insignificance when I thinkabout the fact that my rear drums come off a Ford Transit!

Cheers
G
PS Peter Mulberry does 'Hi-Spec' brake conversions for Morgans but I have no personal experience of how good or otherwise they mightbe
Another souce of good ideas is this guy:
