On my 4/4 Build 1981 there is a button for the lubrication wheel bearing on the front axle. How often do you press the lubrication button? I mean after how many miles or kilometers and how often? Does it have to be pressed when the oil is cold? [img] http://imgur.com/a/AIJO71u[\img] Thanks for you answers. Bernd

Hi Bernd,
I have always given my Plus 8's with this system a 3 Second depression every 200 miles with cold oil and this has served me well over the years, the most important thing is not to depress it too long or you will flush all the grease out that you have applied to the front suspension.
If you have overdone the one shot oiler you'll discover a few little tell tale drips of black oil/grease mixture under the kingpin/upright area as a guide.

It is lubrication for front stub axle/kingpins, I tend to press mine after I have filled with fuel, so every 200 miles or so as I leave the garage so oil hot. Press for a 2 or 3 seconds you will see the oil pressure gauge drop. There are lots of different views on this as to whether you should dispense with the one shot oil system and only use grease. My car has done 200,000 plus miles and the oil routine works for me, I replace the bushes and king pins every 30-40,000 miles.
Rich posted as I was typing

Hello Bernd; I am sure you will discover there are many views on the One Shot Oiler system!! Many many years ago when hill climb racing in the UK a member of the Morgan deity whispered in my ear that the system should never have really been fitted to the cars and the Kingpins should only be greased. I have never used the oiler system and only greased the Kingpins, 68,000 miles later on my +8 and I still have no play in the pins and have never replaced them. I used it every 500 miles on cars that had it fitted but you can find more info here. Some folk think it a waste of time as the oil washes out the grease. https://www.gomog.com/allmorgan9.html#Dynamics

It certainly will if hot oil is injected...

Yes the handbook is quite clear on that point. Provided you are careful this system works well for me with over 10 years of Plus 8ing which with the extra front end weight give the front suspension a harder time. I like keeping my cars just as they came out of the factory unless I see a reason to change something and the only one I needed to do that to glue things back on was my brand new 4/4 Sport back in 2009 I always endeavour to buy the car I want not the one I think I can turn it into, it works well for me If I want to get somewhere in a hurry I 'll borrow the good ladies Polo GTI with 192bhp and great handling + economy Still looking for the oiler on it though

Never used it on my +8 in 37 years. Rely on grease.
