Wetherspoons in the W End ( The Lord Montague, site of the last Marque Club ) is somewhere the Mem. and I frequent when near Soho. You can get two pints of the Black stuff plus a reasonable dinner for around £20 for two, what's not to like?
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

About a year ago in China when I needed something Western. But each to his own. Likewise a trip to South Korea many years ago. Ha. I like Korean food - a number of years with Korean crew saw to that. There is a Korean/Chinese restaurant here in town but one has to be careful with some dishes, the amount of MSG can be high! As for KFC, I don't know whether they have changed the cooking oil, but it used to be rather unhealthy and very good for clogging arteries. Very occasionally I will have a BK, but much prefer good quality "home/pub made". Milk shakes in any of the fast food places are always welcome

McDs do some things well, the breakfast bagel is good, as is the coffee.
But their burgers are uninspired. The meat is OK, but the burger is so thin the patty is cooked all the way through. When I make a burger I use very high quality mince, 50% ribeye and 50% sirloin and it is cooked medium rare. But the cost of the steak mince means I might just as well cook a steak.....!!

They are obviously gourmet appreciators. Been suffering “cold burger”as McD don't sell turkey. I’ve been to our local Indian Restaurant to pick up takeaways a couple of times. Chatting with the owner last Saturday he had just delivered an order 12 miles away for £170 value. A bit far but at that cost he couldn’t say no! I have been missing going to the restaurant. The takeaways were SOOO good! when we go there the waiters automatically bring us poppadoms and drinks. The grandchildren love it there too.

That is some takeaway Indian meal at £170 I hope they have a large family - they might struggle to get out the door else..

Usually have some scroats hanging about - often outside the door with a fag. Noisy students on a nighttime can turn it into a rowdy den and they order those jugs of blue and green chemicals that take ages to make. Tables can be dirty with plates left for ages. Food - great value, but there are not many Michelin stars awarded to Tim’s taverns. Positives massively outweigh the niggles though - bit like a Morgan.

I suspect it's in the Weatherspoons Brand Guidelines that this is an essential component of the customer experience. Non-English speakers may be none the wiser even after using Google translate...
