The Roadsters shouldn't have rubbing issues because they have less wheel inset (wires) than the 4/4.
Having said that my current car has a very tight clearance whereas the previous Morgan to identical spec had no issues. I've ovalled the reaction bars at the bottom to gain a couple of mm.

Hi All
I tend to fit them below the the Spherical washer, as that is where they where designed to fit on a flat top King pin before domed top kingpins and spherical washers which are fitted to later Morgans. Note I have Had one Spherical Washer (concave part) explode on tightening the Oiler Bolt it dented the wall!.
Tyres rubbing Brake reaction bars are not a problem its only on a tight tern usually when parking.

Hi All
Note I have Had one Spherical Washer (concave part) explode on tightening the Oiler Bolt it dented the wall!. . That does not sound good. How many people are driving round with the washer about to fail? Each to their own, but unless you are up for track days or are into extremely spirited road driving with hard braking at the last moment, I really cannot see the point in brake reaction bars. Drilling holes in the chassis, bars rubbing the tyres, now the risk of fastenings exploding... Maybe they are popular because they are cheap and can be fitted as a DIY job to achieve an “upgrade”... End of rant!

Deejay my 4/4 felt “wobbly” just braking moderately. The reaction bars solved it. Recommend by a highly respected morgan garage.

I'm not sure that it's the brake reaction bar so much as tightening the oiler bolt that stresses the spherical washer, is it? once it's done, I can't see how the presence of the BRB would per se increase the risk of failure? I would agree that the brake reaction bars aren't necessary for normal driving, but I did find my car felt more secure when piling into corners under hard braking after I fitted mine. But as you say, chacun å son goût!

I thoroughly greased my shaped/conical washers (one thick one thin from memory) before fitting. I made the point earlier in this thread that they need to fit directly under the oiler bolt to allow them to settle into their natural and correct position by the action of the bolts shoulder bearing on them as it's tightened. I suspect when this doesn't happen you can expect Cain's experience.
Again from memory, the two washers are flat on one side and taper in thickness on the other. The two tapered surfaces are placed against each other and settle into a combined position to take up the tiny angular difference between the upper surface of the upper suspension support (plus bracketry in between) and the oiler bolt shoulder when screwed into the matching kingpin thread.

What on earth is this?
A thoroughly interesting and technically fascinating Morgan improvement thread without any reference to Dominic Cummings or government bashing
