The question is where do you get an aluminum core? I would like some weight loss.

The question is where do you get an aluminum core? I would like some weight loss. You send off your aluminum sprocket to whoever is doing the Supermax conversion, they convert and send back.

The steel rear sprocket replaced the anodised alloy in early 2015. The alloy sprockets only had a life of about 3 - 6,000 miles, although the kevlar drive belts seem to last for ever.

From Morgan Spares here in the States
I can get a steel sprocket and I'll look up the price but really a much better
alternative is our poly coated aluminum sprocket, $525. Still nice and light, quiets down
the noise immensly and just has great durability all of the way around. Motorcycle folks
been doing this for years. We have several folks who have done this upgrade and can speak
to the improvement. I would need your old one back in exchange. It is pictured on our 3 wheeler accessory page.
Let me know, I can quote steel one on Monday if you still decide to go that route.

Mine was changed to steel at 6400 miles. The aluminium one used to lead to masses of black dust in the cockpit even though I had done my best to seal gaps behind the seats. Not so with steel one.

I finally decided on the steel one to be done with it. After 8000 miles I estimate my alloy sprocket was 40% - 50% gone. I think there is at least one poly failure mentioned on this site. BTW, my bevel box has quieted considerably after 8000 miles.

The motorcycle shop I've been talking to asked me how tight the belt was and what was the deflection. Don't know about the rest of you but my belt doesn't deflect at all. It's really tight. I'm wondering if that contributes to the aluminum sprocket wear ?
He said that the typical deflection on a motorcycle belt is 5/8" He's got a gauge that uses a weight to check that.
