Hi,
In process of replacing the radiator in my dads 2007 Roadster which has air con fitted.

I took it to a local garage to get discharged of air con Gas to find there was none in it; so expect it was emptied when the radiator was last changed in 2014 so has gone for 6 years and 12k without any gas in the system? Would it still work?

Also does anyone have a pic of the standard air con radiator setup as on google to find a replacement rad, it comes up with a universal one. The air con rad is caked in leaked collant and dosent seem in good condition with quite a bit of rust and stone damage. So I expect replacement is best.

Thanks
Will

If you regas the system with a new rad it might be ok . A specialist garage can check for leaks.

The Radiator leak is from the Engine radiator, but the air con one sits below it and is covered in the coolant which has leaked.

Does anyone have a pic of the standard air con rad setup as I suspect the air con radiator fitted might be non standard as it does not match the factory build book at all.

I am sorry flyfisher but be prepared for it not to work. The AC charge includes a lubricant which keeps all the seals flexible and that is why one should use the AC for a few minutes at least once a month. The chances are that the seals in the compressor will fail given the 6 years of non lubrication. Good luck.

I would agree the seals are the risk. Till he tries he won't know.

Hi Will ,in case you missed it these hot days in May was Scotland's summer.
No need for aircon until 2021 . On a positive note the garage Active Service in the Inveralmond Estate are very good on air con

Ok, so a bit of a gamble to see if it works..

£130 for a new air con radiator, £60 for a regas then potentially £400 or so for a new compressor... Or just leave it without as it lives in Scotland after all..

If you were going for a re-gas it would be worth having it leak tested beforehand.
As said above I suspect the compressor and other seals are likely stuffed by now.
