I have been charged with making a replica JAP V Twin engine for my son's replica Morgan 3 wheeler pedal car. Any ideas how I go about this please?

I would just shape it out of pieces of MDF and spray it silver ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/06/11/d71b1da0625a366643403c6a3e26c9d8.jpg)

Is this a working model Richard ?
Does it have to actually power the car?
How much detail are you looking for?
If you just want something that looks good and does not work, I would get a lot of photos of various JAP engines , pick the one you like the best (or is the simplest to model) and start using woodworking skills, I would guess you need to start with the crankcase , then the barrels , the cylinder heads, then all the detailed stuff like push rods rockers , carbs , exhaust etc. I imagine some of this could be done on a 3D printer if you have access.
I think that Cameron Engineering produce new JAP replica engines at full size, perhaps you could get some inspiration from their website.

No, just needs to look like one. Apparently, the guy who made it went to school with Peter Morgan. It is actually electric-powered.

Do you know anybody with access to a 3D printer? Or if you model in clay or plaster the local school or college may have a vacuum former which could do you a plastic replica. Sorry I`m not at work anymore as we had a vac.former in our tech shop.

apparently, the original was made out of paper mache! Thanks for the help all! That would make the front end nice & light but would not take much impact damage as likely in a pedal car.

The main engine part , crankcase , cylinders with central carb look exactly like one of the trophies the Morgan Three Wheeler club Sporting section present to winners every year. I have a feeling it was given to them by Mark Reeves of Morgan when he competed. Some careful emailing might get you the source , good luck.

Yes, Mark Reeves donated the trophy to the MTWC for best performance by a 5 speeder.
The trophy was made bu the factory Apprentices and it is currently residing with me this year.
