Gosh, I bet they squeak a bit! Obviously a dire lack of rear end maintenance. Before anything else, I would give everything a clean up, lubricate the springs along their length where accessible with motor cycle chain oil spray, check spring shackles and pins are free to move and make sure that shockers are not seized. Then give the rear end a good few pushes up and down to see if it settles any lower. Lowering blocks may still be worth considering if no improvement. I have no direct experience of a 4/4 but it does not look right somehow.

It isn't as bad as it looks (only a little squeaky) although a clean is in order. It also seems to work ok. I think I will be going with the Axle centralising kit & lowering block from mulfab

A good greasing works wonders for the springs.

A good greasing works wonders for the springs. Motorbike chain lube is great for spraying into the hard to reach bits

Especially if you choose the type for ‘O’ ring motorcycle chains as it does not attack the rubbers in the spring shackle bushes! Some spray chainsaw lubes that I have seen used do, just a word of caution. The correct lube doesn’t cost more.

Yep I use motorbike chain lube +1. Castrol Chainwax is excellent
