Is only the speedometer involved when changing the setting or is the odometer value changing as well? As the speedo calibration is changed/corrected by larger rolling radius of tyres then odometer will be as well. If it was accurate before this may mean it under reads distance slightly.

Have a speed sign that shows your speed in our village and the Morgan is spot on speed wise with 205/65’s. Did you past Hillers farm shop on Wednesday morning between 11:00 and 12:00? I did indeed Graham. I might have been in a hurry to avoid rain on way to redditch Hopefully a fruitful flyby befitting a Morgan It was a good drive past! You missed 5 Morgans in the car park. I said to Colin (Spanner Juggler) - I think that's Dave (DJWuk)! I have converted 4 pals to buying certain comestibles from Hillers We missed the rain apart from a few spots on the way home later on. Doh, would have popped in and said hi. Will have to let me know when you guys are out on a weekend, would be good to say hi from 2m Do like the sausages from Hilliers Right, off down to Gotherington to see the in laws.

Is only the speedometer involved when changing the setting or is the odometer value changing as well? I would think it would affect the odometer as well because the inputs come from the same place, either the wheel hub sensor or gearbox, depending on model. Thanks, guys. I will compare the odometer with a piece of road where the Kilometers are marked. So if a normal everyday car reads the kilometers or miles of the speedo with advance, does it mean that in this case the odometer is more correct? It should be possible with a digital gauge to separate the programming of odo and speedo.

So final update. Only when I got tyres replaced did I find the tyres that looked relatively new, with plenty of tread were also in fact manufactured in 2010. When I showed the sidewall defects I was told it was not pothole damage, so god knows how it got there. Anyway the final result was an incredible transformation of the ride of the car with new tyres. It is so much smoother and compliant a ride. I had misinterpreted the harsh ride before to be all the fault of the suspension setup, where in fact although suspension needed tweaking the tyres had a large part to play. So £215 well spent on 4 new Avon ZV7’s (plus fitting). Result Very interesting. I have 2009 tyres and have been resisting a change as they have only done 7000 miles. With this perspective I think I will fit a new set. Our local ATS says that they have the right equipment and the chirpy chap quoted a few wire wheeled cars they have supplied in past weeks, E Type, MGB. New Avon ZV7s fitted by ATS today, my oh my what a difference. I resisted changing the tyres as the old set were virtually unused, now my advice to anyone is don't hesitate' go ahead. The ride is far better, more forgiving and they seem to work with the suspension rather than crashing through the bumps. i went for 205 65 15 and while they look a little bulky I'm glad I did. ATS were very good, took 45 minutes, wheels in perfect balance, weights now fitted to the inside of the hubs Had a good long chat to Richard, an ex Plus 8 owner of 16 years and member/organiser of Hopmog (who was in for a tyre fitting for a Mercedes). great to hear his reminiscences of touring around Britain. Much appreciate all the good advice once again

Yes the odometer will be more accurate, if only because speed is an extra calculation involving time. Then you have speedometer accuracy that needs to be in the range +/- 5%. However because they cannot under read this translates to 0 - +10%.

Good to hear you had same experience . How did they manage to balance wheels ? I was in the office when they did it, they were confident, no hesitation and were quick. They cleaned off the residue from the old weights previously fitted to the outside. I paid £73 each. It has transformed the ride and I wish I had taken the forums advice back in August and replaced them immediately.
