The standard battery looks a little lightweight to be cranking over the big V8. Is it possible to fit a larger battery or is there a battery with more AH that is suitable that is of the same diminutive size.
After 2 days standing the starter motor won't engage (lots of clicks), so either that starter motor has gone from hero to zero overnight or the battery is not quite strong enough.

Phil - don't confuse capacity (A-hr, energy) with "CCA" (cold cranking amps, the ability to turn the engine, power). You can have all the A-hr in the world and still not get an engine to start because you need several hundred amps in an instant which (from a battery design perspective) is not actually that much energy but is a lot of power. Fitting a larger petrol tank to your car makes it go further, but not faster!

Battery drain is usually down to additional alarms draining power. Having said that as standard Aeros seem to lose charge withIn a couple of weeks. Standard option is to keep them on trickle charge to keep them topped up.

I realize the Aero doesn't have the LR engine, but if it has anything like the LR/RR Body Electronic Control Module it might help to check out http://www.landywiki.co.uk/index.php?title=BeCMfor clues on alarms draining power when at rest

This is getting scary........
Do you, or your neighbours, have
an Oregon Scientific type weather station? If so, it could be interfering
with your central locking system, continuously awakening the electronics
until the battery flattens.

Certainly is on my 90 (just an immobiliser). I disconnect the main battery now if it is to sit for more than a few days...

No question about it guys, the original battery is not up to the job for the Aero 8 and for sure needs regular conditioning. I've just replaced mine with a US made Odessy: www.odysseyfactory.comIt's a dry unit that fitted and looked the same size and shape as the original. But as you will read on their site their batteries have more cranking power for longer and obviously they can't leak either. Mines been in a couple of months now, but so far no worries, only downside is of course they are considerably more expensive, mine was £150, but what's that compared to being stranded by the roadside?! P.S. I still condition it whilst it's in the garage. Andy
