Picked up my almost new Roadster today. Horrified when going over a particularly rough section of Dartmoor road when there was an almighty "bang"! I knew something had broken or fallen off the car, but didn't realise right away (because the road was narrow and winding - and I was concentrating) that the "billet" horn push assembly had dropped out of the Motolita steering wheel.
Luckily it fell onto the floor inside the car - that was the bang - it's heavy! It went on to do the same thing 5 times in the course of a 50-mile drive. Mostly I caught it before it dropped right off.
Wondered if anyone else has experienced this? The rubber "O" ring that creates the interference fit between the push assembly and the wheel boss doesn't seem fat enough to me: the billet can be easily pulled out with two fingers, and little force. I need to find a solution, before I lose it altogether.

Yes.....that happened to me. Very easy fix, just needs a bit of tape to tighten the fix. I used electrical tape.

Had the same problem too..fell out on roughroad and was held on by the wire ,damaged the rim of the wheel..
Fixed it with a bit of electical tape.
The rubber "o" ring is not quite thick enough..but be carefull there is a copper fing to earth it at one point on the rubber so dont cover that part.
You would have thought the dealers would be aware of the problem after fitting so many over the years..

I had the problem a couple of months ago touring Scotland! Sorted it out with a squirt of silicone sealant.
Mentioned it to MMC in passing..."oh...a lot do that" was their response!

They're not all like that. I took mine out a while ago and had to use screwdrivers to lever it. The inside flange had been greased, and it's a very tight fit.

They're not all like that.  Must be the first time someone has said that about anything fitted to a Morgan...

I worry about a Yorkshire man addicted to neoprene, tight fits & grease! Seriously it sounds like MMC need to invest in SPC to up the Ppk

Tried a couple of new wheel bosses with my horn push today at Berrybrook - they were even looser than mine. The push assembly just fell straight out when the boss was inverted: there was no resistance whatsoever! We fixed it up with insulation tape for now, as suggested (thanks!). Berrybrook are ordering a new billet horn push: we'll see if that's machined to a tighter tolerance or not.
As a matter of interest: also emailed Moto-Lita, who deny that they've ever even heard of this problem. Mmmm!
