I've always wanted a Morgan and with things as they are, combined with the fact that Morgan were discontinuing the traditional cars, we decided that it might be the last chance to realise a dream. We then test drove a new Roadster and a New Plus Four. They look similar enough to the man in the street but the driving experience is very different. We have a Mercedes C43 and an Audi TT as our daily drivers and the Plus Four was pretty similar to those cars, wheras the Roadster is a traditional and far more involved drive. I wanted a true Morgan and not something that looked like a Morgan but drove like a modern car. Nothing wrong with that but it isn't what I wanted. And you can't have bumpers, the steering wheel is horrible, and don't get me started on the gear lever on the automatic!

Hi Andy. Welcome to TM and to Morgan ownership. I'm not far from you so might see you around the lanes sometime. Any pics?

Very relevant comments & interesting that someone new to Morgan still prefers the Trad, well done Andy thumbs

Thanks for all the words of welcome. It's good to see that there are plenty of you around Herts & North London who I might meet out & about. NE Scotland was good to see too, as one of my planned trips is to take a slow meander up to the Shetlands. Ireland first though, hopefully next month.

Welcom from northern germany!

I understand the reasons why you bought the "not so perfect" trad!

Can I add my name to the list of those welcoming you to the merry band of Morganeers Andy. Interesting that you chose a Trad and your reasons for doing so.

I have had a great time over many years with hands on experience of quite a number of sports cars, but there came a time when my interest in Vintage cars came to the fore, and while I admire many small vintage cars it was the likes of the LM Bentleys and Bugatti that impressed most, and any machine I came to own would ideally be able to cope with modern traffic... Morgan seemed to provide the answer in the form of the +8, which I have now owned since 2002 and the experience of owning and driving it has been Vintage enough for me... smile From that which I have read the Roadster can be a bit of a beast, I hope you enjoy many wonderful miles in it Andy. drive thumbs
