Well folks as I reported earlier I had emailed my MP with copies of the nonsensical correspondence between me and the DVLA. I Included copies of their letters were on three separate occasions they refused to renew the tax asking for different forms to be submitted even though on one of the occasions the forms they requested were actually attached to my application. I backed it up with the letters from last year were almost the same thing happened again where they had taken nine weeks to renew the tax.

In the post this morning I can’t even say I was surprised to receive my application back along with the V5C which had been torn in half! my MOT, my cheque and all the forms completed that they said they had never received (this is the same package I had sent that they said was lost in the post) so it seems they had miraculously found it and return everything to me. Pinned to the front was an undated and unsigned letter saying ‘we are now looking into this matter’ a one sentence letter very badly written and no explanation whatsoever.

Maybe my communication with the MP made some difference? maybe not, but he will certainly get a copy of this lot along with a question of what do I do for the V5C now that they have destroyed the one I posted in! I can accept COVID causes delays but incompetence? Plus there was no COVID in Swansea this time last year was there?

That’s how I would do it by choice and how I do it for my tin tops however if you’re trying to claim a 50% or even full reduction based around PIP rules then you cannot do it online they’ve been saying for seven years they are about to update their system and never have it has to be a paper-based application.
